Eugene Richard Rice

San Marcos, TX - Eugene Richard Rice of San Marcos, TX passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at the age of 96.

Born in Islip, NY, he was the son of the late Erwin and Alice (Glassett) Rice.

Gene grew up in Athol, MA and graduated from Athol High School. He served with the U.S. Marine Corp from 1946-1948 and went on to graduate from Bryant College in Rhode Island. Gene married Gloria Barigelli in 1950 and had one son. He later married Joyce Batholomew.

Upon college graduation, Gene began a lifelong engineering career with Pratt & Whitney and retired to Orlando, FL. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Tim Rice and his wife Lea of San Marcos, TX; his granddaughter Kimberly Rice Palmer and her husband James Palmer of Ft. Mill, SC, and his great grandsons, Tyler Palmer and Riley Palmer.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Bartholomew.

The family would like to give special thanks to Cornerstone Healthcare and Magnolia Hospice for their expert care.
