George H. Williams-known affectionately as Fuzzy, Dad, Grumps, Uncle George, Mr. Williams, and many more-passed away surrounded by love and memories that won't soon fade. A man of many names and even more stories, George had a personality that made an impact on everyone lucky enough to cross his path. You didn't meet George without remembering him.
He was whip-smart, relentlessly witty, playfully inappropriate (his favorite trait, he'd say), stubborn, and loyal to the bone. With a heart as big as his laugh, he taught those around him how to appreciate good food, fine bourbon, and a properly smoked barbecue. He had a passion for books, Sci-Fi, RVs, bikes, and most of all, for his family.
George had an uncanny ability to pass on life lessons-not always the obvious ones. He showed how to hold your own in a garage, navigate electronics with confidence, and drive a stick shift with pride. He believed in teaching his children how to stand firm, speak truth, and never take any mess from anyone.
The years weren't always easy, especially through the hardship of COVID and the loss of his beloved wife six years ago. But even in the face of grief and stubborn spats (traits handed down generously to his kids), George's love never wavered. He remained a fierce cheerleader for his children, always proud and never shy to say so.
George was ready to reunite with his lifelong love, though we weren't ready to say goodbye. He hoped she'd take him back in the next life-and we know she did. He's likely somewhere with his old dog Cosby, catching up, telling jokes, and probably causing a little ruckus.
He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, grit, wisdom, and love. His children, Sean and Erin, carry his spirit forward and are better people because of him and their mother. We'll miss every laugh, every inappropriate joke, every stubborn debate-and we'll remember to make good trouble in his honor.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Therese, and his beloved wife of 47 years, Kathy. He is survived by his older brother, Ted, his son, Sean, daughter, Erin (husband Chad), bonus daughter, Jenny (wife Cindy), six grandchildren Reese, Eve, Collin, Ella, Nora, and Aiden, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Haunt us like you promised, Daddy. We love you forever.
