Jonathan Peters Obituary
On July 10, 2025, Jonathan (Jon) Burrow Peters passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Memphis, TN surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jackie, his three sons (Jonathan, Jerry, and Jackson), his mother, Ruth, his three brothers Jeff (Geri), Judd (Nicole), and Jason (Emily), his mother-in-law, Deloris Stone, his brother-in-law Jeff Stone (Verna), and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
He was born on October 1, 1965, to Ruth and Jerry Peters in Memphis, TN. He attended elementary school at Presbyterian Day School (PDS) and went on to attend middle school and high school at Memphis University School (MUS), where his father Jerry coached varsity basketball and taught government and history.
After graduating from MUS, he went to college at Ole Miss, where he earned his bachelor's degree in accounting in 1988. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE), serving later as president of the chapter.
After graduating from Ole Miss, Jon began his career in public accounting at E&Y (formerly Ernst and Whinney), where he met his future wife, Jackie Stone, whom he married in 1995. Because of limited office space new hires, Jon and Jackie, had to share a desk in the same office, that was the beginning of their life together. After leaving E&Y, Jon served as Chief Financial officer and partner at Paradigm Capital Partners, a venture capital firm. He then began his work in the pharmacy industry at Accredo Health Group, Inc. where he was Senior Vice President of Reimbursement and Technology. He played a crucial role in Accredo being acquired by MedCo and served as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Accredo.
After retiring for a couple of years, Jon founded and became President and CEO of Anovo (formerly AnovoRx) in 2013, where he grew the company from a handful of employees to over 400 employees. He was extremely proud of the impact that Anovo has made on the lives of the patients they serve, as well as all of the employees who work there and make it possible. In 2025, Anovo won the top prize for the Commercial Appeal's Top Workplaces in the large company category, which is a testament to how much he cared about providing his employees with the best work environment possible.
Jon was involved in many philanthropic endeavors. He was co-founder and on the board of directors for Rising Together Foundation, a local nonprofit providing summer enrichment programs for underserved Memphis area youth. He also served on the board of directors for the West Cancer Foundation.
Above all, Jon was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend to so many people. He always volunteered to coach his sons' basketball teams, and anyone who played for him can still hear his voice yelling after they took shots that they knew they weren't supposed to take. He loved spending time in Heber Springs, Arkansas, where he would fish, grill out, play golf, watch NASCAR, and spend time out on the lake with his family. Anyone who went tubing with him on the lake knew that they were at his mercy, because no one was better at throwing people off the tube when needed. Jon loved attending Ole Miss football games and cheering on his Rebs! He also adopted the Arkansas Razorbacks when his son, Jerry, decided to attend the University of Arkansas. Over the years he hosted countless family holiday gatherings with Jon serving as head grillmaster. He was a big fan of the Memphis Grizzlies and held season tickets ever since the team first moved to Memphis in 2001.
Jon positively impacted a countless number of lives, and he will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 21 at 4:00 pm at Independent Presbyterian Church. Following the service, there will be an informal reception in the Fellowship Hall at IPC.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give to Rising Together Foundation (www.risingtogetherfoundation.com), West Cancer Foundation (westcancerfoundation.org), or Le Bonheur Children's Hospital (www.lebonheur.org).
