Richard (Dick) Cilley

North Bend, WA - Peacefully passing on May 9, 2025, Richard A. (Dick) Cilley will be remembered for his love and respect for our military, his commanding leadership, his quirky sense of humor, and his unwavering commitment to community service. Everyone who knew Dick, has at least one funny story to share, as he was quite the character. Born in Bradford, NH, on November 17, 1932, to Henry B. and Harriet Elizabeth (Betty) Cilley, he was the fifth of five children. Dick attended the University of New Hampshire and in 1954, enlisted in the US Army Infantry Reserves. Raising to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant Dick made his way to the Pacific Northwest via a Ft Lewis commission. He met and married Shirley Anne Loveland, and together they built a life in the Snoqualmie Valley, WA, raising four children. Dick remained in the Valley for 24 years working at Loveland Chev-Olds, first in sales and then as GM. The 1980s brought a move to Aurora, CO, where he worked primarily in the insurance business. As an outdoor enthusiast, Dick skied, played tennis, rode horses and motorcycles, and enjoyed what he always described as 364 days of sun. He volunteered for a myriad of organizations, but his most significant impact was picking up trash daily along 6 miles of roadway for 28 years. Post retirement, this was his reason for getting up in the morning. He leaves behind his only surviving sibling, George Avery Cilley (Bradford, NH), and an extended family of four children, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, who feel incredibly blessed to have had so many years together.
