Nona Nichols Obituary

Nona Sue Nichols, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother quietly slipped away into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 29th, 2025, with her family by her side.

Nona Sue, 89, of Bartlett, Tennessee was born to the late William and Willie Day Braly on February 12, 1936. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Lawson, her brothers Edwin and Samual Braly and her sister Sara Davelaar and twin sister Mary Lou Graham.

She was born and raised in Henderson Tennessee. After graduating from High School, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where she met the love of her life Frederick "Nick" Nichols. They were married on February 2, 1957. Their marriage of 67 years was built on the foundation of their faith in God and unwavering love for one another. She was a devoted Air Force wife and embraced a life of adventure and service. She enjoyed living in various locations- including England, Turkey, and stateside, Texas and South Carolina. Following Nick's retirement from the Air Force, they moved to Memphis Tennessee, and later Bartlett, Tennessee.

A devout Christian, Nona Sue attended Waypoint Baptist Church (Formerly Broadmoor Baptist Church). Here she served faithfully in multiple capacities including Sunday School teacher, WMU director, Waypoint needs ministry and many more. She loved her church family very much and would always help wherever needed.

As a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Nona Sue sacrificially served her family in every way. She devoted her life to nurturing a loving home, welcoming not only her family, but all who entered her doors with warmth and generosity. Her personal relationship with Jesus Christ was central in all her roles in life.

Nona Sue is survived by daughter Susan Biggs (John) of Collierville, Tennessee, daughter Angela Downing (Scott) of Rockwall, Texas; grandchildren Andy Lawson, Kris Lawson, Ryan Lawson, Johnny Biggs (Brittany), Jason Biggs (Olivia), Sarah Worthington (Joel), Anna Gray (Thomas), Savannah Prisock and Connor Prisock; great-grandchildren Adabelle Biggs and Dallas Biggs.

The family will receive loved ones and friends from 9:00 am- 10:00 am on Saturday, August 2, 2025, with service to follow at 10:00 at Memphis Funeral Home located at 3700 N Germantown Road, Bartlett Tenn. Interment will be held at Sanford Rodgers Cemetery at 1:00 in Henderson, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
