Kenneth Smith Obituary

Kenneth P. Smith

Westhampton, MA - We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Kenneth Paul Smith, age 89, of Westhampton. Kenneth passed away at Baystate Medical center on the morning of July 25th, surrounded by his family.

Born in Easthampton on June 12th, 1936, to Georgianna and Clarence Smith, he was the youngest of seven children. He attended and graduated from Williston Academy Junior school, went on to graduate from Easthampton High School, and later graduated from the University of Massachusetts. He was a proud Mason and Veteran. Ken enjoyed traveling through the United States, especially the western states, spending time at Mesa Verde and Chaco Canyon. After retiring from teaching history at White Brook in Easthampton, Smith and Deb spent many winters at their home in New Mexico, where he would ride his quad up to the mountains and explore old mines.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Georgianna and Clarence Smith as well by his siblings, Ruth Barre, Ralph Smith, Buster Smith, Dot Beyer, Betty Guyette, and Doug Smith.

He is survived by his wife Debra (Lavoie) Smith and his three children, Shelley Keeney (Jeff), Scott Smith, and K.P. Smith (Isabelle) as well as by his grandsons, Josh Kenney and Adam Keeney, and his great grandson, Alexander Keeney. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and Betty the Beagle.

In memory of Kenneth, donations may be made to Westfield Animal Shelter Heroes, P.O. Box 516, Westfield, MA 01086.

Burial will be private at a later date at Brookside Cemetery in the Smith family plot.
