Glen Bickford Obituary

Glen R. Bickford

Coventry, VT - Glen R. Bickford (Rick)

Surrounded by his loving family, Rick joined his Lord and Savior on August 1, 2025. He was born March 13, 1954, at the Broadview Hospital in Newport, Vermont.

He was predeceased by his mother, Laura J. (Pope/Bickford) Colepaugh in 2000, and his father, Glendon R. Bickford in 2018. His brother, David Gary Bickford passed shortly after birth in 1952.

Rick is survived by his devoted wife of 48 plus years, Joanne M. (Gilbert) Bickford and their three daughters: Miranda (Bickford) Pitrone, her husband Robert, of Chardon, Ohio and grandchildren, Emily, Aria, and Giuseppie, Elizabeth Bickford of Bristol, Connecticut and grandchildren Damla and Aylin, and Sarah (Bickford) Meunier, her husband Chris, of Newport, Vermont and grandchildren Christopher and Freya. He is also survived by his two sisters, Cindy Bickford-Bushey and her husband Frank, of Plattsburg, New York, and Karen Bickford-White and her husband David, of Sarasota, Florida as well as multiple nieces and nephews.

He moved to Easthampton, Massachusetts shortly after getting married in 1977. Rick worked at Kollmorgan in Northampton, Massachusetts thirteen years as a precision lens technician. After going back to college and graduating with an accounting degree, he worked at Kollmorgan's corporate office in Simsbury, Connecticut as a staff account for two years. When Kollmorgan's corporate office moved, he took a position for ten years at the October Co. in Easthampton, Massachusetts, as an assistant to the controller.

Rick came to faith in 1992 and recognized Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Rick was a member and served as an elder of College Church in Northampton, Massachusetts.

While living in Massachusetts, Rick enjoyed many years as a lassie league softball coach. He was also an avid New York Yankee fan. Hunting, fishing, and camping were some of the other activities he enjoyed. Rick also loved hosting many gatherings like family Memorial Day events, Friends & Fireworks in Easthampton, Massachusetts, and twenty years of family reunions in Coventry, Vermont.

Rick's dream of moving back to the family land in Coventry, Vermont, came true in 2002 where he and Joanne built their current family home. He held various accounting positions in the area including Nevtec of Newport, Ethan Allen Corp. in Orleans, and self-employment.

Rick attended the Derby Community Church located in Derby, Vermont, where a memorial service will be held August 23rd at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, Rick has asked that donations be sent to Futures Pregnancy Care, PO Box 65, Lyndonville, Vermont 05851.

Sad news. We were so lucky to call him friend when he lived in Easthampton and participated in lassie league with us. Glad he had his dream come true in moving back to Vermont. Hugs and sympathy for all his family and friends.

Dear Bickford family, I was saddened to read about Glen´s passing. We were classmates from elementary to high school. I remember his smile every time we met. He was a good person. I´m sorry for your loss, but I´m sure he´s in the hands of the good lord right now. Take care.
