Richard Roznoy Obituary
Amherst, MA - RICHARD THOMAS ROZNOY passed away in Amherst, MA on August 8, 2025 with the love of his life wife Susan and daughter Pam, with whom he shared a spiritual connection, providing loving support.
Born in Newark, NJ Richard had a rich life in music, as a trombone teacher, performer, appreciator and supporter. He established a successful law firm and spent many hours supporting his alma mater, the University of Michigan Wolverines and the New York Mets. Tennis and golf were additional passions.
Richard and Susan traveled widely and established a happy, loving homestead where friends and neighbors were invited - a home which sustained their spirit; their great happiness a surprise joy that came to them both late in life.
Surviving him are his wife Susan Roznoy, Pamela Jill Becker, his daughter, and her husband Charles Becker, in Reston, Virginia; and granddaughter Nora Ruth Becker, in Vancouver, British Columbia. Richard also leaves behind Ben-alp Celik, in Vilvoorde, Belgium, an "honorary grandson." His sister Judith Hudson, of Toms River, New Jersey, pre-deceased him.
To honor Richard, donations can be made to The Richard and Susan Roznoy Endowed Scholarship which will benefit a University of Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra strings student and can be sent to The University of Massachusetts at Amherst Foundation, Attn: Robby O'Sullivan, Memorial Hall, 134 Hicks Way, Amherst, MA 01003, designating the specific scholarship or online: https://minutefund.uma-foundation.org/project/47007/donate
A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.

Sorry to hear of Rich's passing. I was a colleague of his when he was trombone instructor at Iowa State University. I remember writing a piece for him, which he played on his graduate recital at University of Wisconsin. We were good friends in his early days and had many enjoyable experiences together.
