Edward Hammond Obituary

Edward "Spud" Hammond

Lebanon, NH - My husband of 55 ½ years has passed into his next life Saturday August 23, 2025. He spent 88 years in this one. He was a busy man. It seemed like he was always moving. He was born on February 21, 1937 and was 1 of 7 children born to Evelyn Jameson and Raymond Hammond. He is predeceased by Paul, Donald, Phil and Sue, his living siblings are Carol Macie and Doug Hammond. He was a loving husband to Sharon (Lord) Hammond and father to Randy (Sue), and Troy (Kami) and Stepfather to Tracy (Jamee) and Hollie (Walter). Spud was grandfather to Amelia and Haley, Madison and Tyler, Sabreanna, Tamica, Jazmine and Tristen. Great grandfather to Ayla and Ella (Tamica), Octavia, Athena and Aurora (Tristen and Ronnie), Eloise (Madison and Kyle).

He loved working with trucks and wood. He was a kind and loving man and willing to help people with any problem they might have. He was always just a phone call away. He owned and operated the Texaco station in Canaan for a number of years. He was a truck driver for several different companies. He was a longtime fireman, at one time Chief and a police officer for the town of Canaan. He taught his kids and me how to drive as well as he trained me to operate the Big Rig.

He also worked at Hammond Saw Mill. He was an expert welder and owned/operated a firewood company. He worked a very long time for the town of Enfield Highway Dept. We moved to Virginia for 5 years where we did everything that was needed cutting trees, building whatever etc. We moved back to Canaan where we lived until we moved to Lebanon. He was known as a Jack of all trades and master of most of them.

Family and friends are invited to Spud's calling hours on Monday September 1st from 2pm to 4 pm at Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon. A graveside service will be held at Lake View Cemetery in Enfield at 12 pm on Tuesday September 2nd. We invite everyone to join us at Poor House BBQ in Canaan directly after the service. Poor House BBQ is owned by Dan Jameson.

If you wish to wear it, Spud's favorite color is blue. An online guest book is available to leave Spud's family a message of condolence by visiting www.rickerfuneralhome.com
