Chandar Vaid Obituary

Chandar Kanta Vaid

Leeds, MA - Chandar Kanta Vaid, 86, passed away on October 20, 2025, in Leeds, Massachusetts. Born in India on January 15, 1939, Chandar was a beacon of kindness, good humor, and dedication, cherished by her family and many friends.

After emigrating to the US in the late 1960's with her husband and sons, Chandar worked for over three decades as a technician at Orion Research Company in Boston. She also served as a part-time seamstress for the Indian community, skillfully balancing her career with the joys and responsibilities of raising three sons.

Chandar's talents extended beyond her professional life, as she was also an accomplished hostess, cook, and seamstress at home.

A devoted member of Shivalaya Temple in Medford, MA, Chandar's faith played a central role in her life. She was actively involved in temple activities, where her presence will be deeply missed. Chandar and her husband Kidar were founding members of the United India Association of New England and maintained active membership throughout their lives. Her personal hobbies included entertaining at her Beacon Street home, playing Bingo, card games, singing, and daily prayer, activities that reflected her joyful spirit and love for life.

Chandar was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kidar Vaid; her parents, Dina Bhardwaj and Hira Devi Bhardwaj and her siblings, Raj Kumar, Maharaj Kumar, Satya Sharma, Bhagwati Sharma, and Tej Bati. She is survived by her sons, Kuldip Vaid (Ananya), Pardip Vaid (Gretchen Werle), and Jaideep Vaid (Priya Kumar); grandchildren Sonika, Sarvani, Shailin, Shaunik, Terrence (Kelly), Cynthia (Matt), Neil (Chinami), Karina, and Sabrina; and great-grandson, Caleb. Chandar leaves her devoted niece Sneh Sharma, who accompanied Chandar to India in her final years and extended kind hospitality at her home always, as well as her caring former daughters-in-law Pamela Dutta and Cheryl Vaid.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home, 8 Spring Street, West Roxbury, MA. This will be followed by funeral and cremation services. Additionally, a Puja, Bhajan, and lunch will take place on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Shivalaya Temple, 407R Mystic Avenue, Medford, MA.

The family extends thanks for the loving care provided by the staff at Rockridge Retirement Community, Linda Manor, and Pioneer Valley Hospice.
