Roseanne Emond Obituary

Roseanne I. Emond

Turners Falls, MA - Roseanne Ione Emond (Lively), 87, of Turners Falls, passed away with her loving family by her side on January 10, 2026 at home.

Roseanne was born in Charlemont on August 4, 1938, oldest child of Ernest and Irene (Lanoue) Lively. Those who know local history will remember the flood of September 1938. Roseanne always joked about her diapers going down the river. She was a graduate of Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls, the Class of 1955. Upon graduation, Roseanne began work at Dumont Company in Greenfield. Other jobs included working at Highland Village, Riverside Industries, Ken Lang Tax Prep and the Department of Social Services. According to Roseanne, her biggest accomplishment was raising her family. For many years she participated in Relay for Life. Roseanne enjoyed knitting, playing the piano, quilting, traveling, class reunions, companion cats, playing cribbage, and reminiscing about the Lively farm on Legate Hill in Charlemont.

Long time friends and neighbors include Eileen, Bruce, Charlotte, Carol, Tina, Deb, and Donna. She also had many friends in Europe that she continued to maintain contact with after her travels. In recent years, Roseanne attended Our Lady of Peace Church in Turners Falls.

One piece of advice that she frequently said was, "Money isn't money until you have it in your hand."

Roseanne was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Irene Lively and four siblings, Ernest Jr., Arthur "Bud", Bethany, Irene and a nephew, Johnny.

Surviving siblings include a brother, John Lively (Turners Falls), sister, Mary Johnson (Turners Falls) and sister, Bonnie Phillips (Georgia). Sincere condolences to Roseanne's family. I have known the name Roseanne Lively all my life and have a photo of her taken with my sister, Patty Annear, in 1943 or 44. Our connection must have started in the house that washed away in the flood of 1938 when my family lost everything. Roseanne's mom gave me my first permanent hairdo..a "Shirley Temple".

Grandma Rose was an amazing woman who will be dearly missed. Whenever my other grandma, her daughter Leslie, and I would go out, Grandma Rose always made sure to treat me with trips to my favorite restaurants and stores.

We loved going to Atkins; she loved getting fudge and vegetables along with donuts. She passed very peacefully and was beloved by so many. We miss her greatly and love her dearly.

Gramma Rose always was a joy to talk to. She always had the funniest stories to share about all the shenanigans her and my mother as a kid went through together. I always enjoyed listening to her talk and sharing her stories and thoughts on the world. Even in her more recent years when her health began to decline, she still talked with a bright smile.
Even though I didn't get the chance to fully say goodbye, you made my last week with you a great one. And I'm sure your gnomes will follow you to be your emotional support in heaven.
Say hi to Hobbs and Nemo for me.
