Martha Cormie Obituary

Martha (Trudeau) Cormie

Orange Park, FL - Martha (Trudeau) Cormie was born October 3rd 1928 and passed away at MooseHaven in Orange Park Florida at 97.

She graduated from Greenfield high school in 1947. She contracted polio when she was a senior in high school.

She was predeceased by her parents Francis (Frank) and Daisy Trudeau. She was the youngest of 7, predeceased by Jack Perkins, Thomas, Leonard and Fabian Trudeau Sr., Cecil Pine, Eleanor Rondeau.

Martha married Jean-Noel Roy (1925-1992) in 1950. She is survived by her two children Joseph Richard Roy and Christine Ann Clark and their children Travis Roy, Jessica Thomas, Eli Clark and Katlyn Sharek and their respective spouses and children.

She later married Larry Rockwood and Edward Cormie, both deceased.

She studied Tai Chi Ch'uan with Richard, starting in her 50's for 30+ years. First as a student then as a teacher. She taught Tai Chi at local senior centers and assisted at J. R. Roy's Martial Arts Studio.

She owned and operated Frenchy's Dinner in South Deerfield, MA. She also worked in a number of other culinary settings.

She was a Moose member for many years, involved with Moose Club fundraisers. She was very proud of the fundraising that the Woman of the Moose did for Moosehaven and Mooseheart.

She loved to play cards especially pitch and cribbage. She participated in many Pitch Tournaments.

In 2020 she moved to Moosehaven. Her best years were spent in the Ohio building where she enjoyed riding her scooter to card games, bingo and other activities. She was known as Party Marty; the fun loving, card planing, life of the party. One of her favorite things was 'scratch tickets'. She gambled when she could. One of her favorite pastimes at MooseHaven was winning candy bars playing Bingo.

Her family will always be grateful for the wonderful care that she received at Moosehaven, especially from CNA's Wendal, Darleen and social worker Susan
