Betty Blythe Obituary

Betty Mason Blythe,, age 100+, passed peacefully at her home on January 31, 2026.

She was born on February 22, 1925, in Jackson, Tennessee, and lived a long and meaningful life defined by faith, family, and quiet strength.

Most of Betty's life was spent in the Mississippi Delta, in Lake Cormorant, where she made her home as a farmer's wife, business partner, and devoted homemaker. She worked faithfully alongside her husband, creating a home rooted in love, hard work, and hospitality.

As a longtime member of Goodman Oaks Church of Christ, her life was one of service, carried out with grace, humility and her love for the Lord's church. Betty was a deeply faithful, active, and generous Christian woman. Her faith guided every part of her life and was evident in the way she treated others-with kindness, patience, and encouragement. She always seemed to have a gentle word for everyone she met. She dearly loved her church and the members of Goodman Oaks, whom she considered an extension of her family.

Family was at the heart of everything Betty did. She was devoted to family traditions and delighted in celebrating birthdays, graduations, and all major holidays. Thanksgivings filled her home with family and laughter, while Christmas mornings, especially those spent at Jamie and Brad's home, were among her most cherished memories.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton M. Blythe; her son, Joseph Greene Blythe; her parents, Mary Mason and Eudel Mason; and her siblings, Richard Mason, Maridel Roberts, and Ramona Beasley.

She is survived by her daughter, Alice Blythe Denton (Randy); her granddaughters, Jamie Branning (Brad), Kacey Hayes (Michael), Chelsea Anderson (Brian), and Christine Feltman (Jake); her grandsons, Rob Denton (Amanda) and Cotton Blythe (Nikki); 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 1:30 PM with visitation beginning at 12:30 PM at Goodman Oaks Church of Christ, 1700 Goodman Rd E Southaven, MS 38671. Burial will follow at New Bethlehem Cemetery in Horn Lake, MS.

Betty's life stands as a testament to steadfast faith, unconditional love, and devotion to God and family. Her gentle spirit and encouraging presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."- Psalm 116:15. "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you… that where I am you may be also." - John 14:1–3
