Cynthia Currier Obituary

Cynthia Currier

Georges Mills, NH - Cynthia Clare (Mulcahey) Currier, 79, of Georges Mills, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

She was born on June 13, 1946, in Oswego, New York, the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Izyk) Mulcahey. She attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Oswego Catholic High School before continuing her education at the State University of New York at Oswego, where she studied education.

Cyndy began her teaching career in Los Angeles, California, where she taught from 1968 to 1970. While there, she married the love of her life, James "Jim" Parker Currier, in December of 1969. The couple moved to New Hampshire the following summer, where they built a life rooted in family, fun, service, and community.

Cyndy worked in the Kearsarge Regional School District from 1970 through 2001. During her tenure, she taught mathematics and later served as Director of Technology. After retiring from KRSD, she continued her professional contributions through SERESC and Demonstrated Success, providing technology training and consultation to schools across the region.

She was a founding member of NHSTE, a nonprofit organization formed by volunteers to improve education through the use of information technologies. She was recognized in 2022 with the Making IT Happen Award. Cyndy also worked in various capacities for the New Hampshire State Department of Education.

Deeply committed to service, Cyndy volunteered her time with Our Lady of Fatima Church, the Otter Pond Protective Association, and Project Sunapee. She was known for her quiet generosity, making countless casseroles for neighbors and friends, and regularly visiting residents in nursing homes.

Her greatest joys were her family and tennis. She and her husband traveled to many countries, always forming lasting friendships along the way. She was a devoted and enthusiastic supporter of her four granddaughters, proudly attending any event in which they participated. She also cherished the many friendships she made on the tennis court. Cyndy will be remembered as generous, faithful, industrious, principled, and deeply caring.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Lynne Mulcahey; daughters and sons-in-law, Meagan and Jeff Reed, and Lindsay and Shawn Walkinshaw; her granddaughters, Molly, Emma, Katie, and Elle; as well as nieces, nephews, and friends of all ages.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jim Currier; her brother, Eric Mulcahey; and her niece and goddaughter, Denise Mulcahey McCann.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church in New London, New Hampshire. A Celebration of Life will also take place Saturday, February 7 at 11:30 a.m. at The Livery in Sunapee, New Hampshire.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sunapee Welfare Department, 23 Edgemont Road, Sunapee, NH 03782, or to Loaves and Fishes, c/o Our Lady of Fatima Church, 724 Main Street, New London, NH 03257.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to every staff member, volunteer, and donor at the Jack Byrne Center for their exceptional care and compassion.

I knew and loved Cyndy mainly through tennis at Newport Tennis Club and her backyard court. You can know much about a person through sports and how they conduct themselves - honest, generous, no-nonsense, humble, devoted to family, devoted to helping others, I'll never forget that smile, the laughs we shared and her delicious Polish delicacies. Rest in Pease Dear Cyndy!

Cyndy was a kind, devoted friend, mother and grandmother. Newman adored her as she "got" him and used her talents to assist in his many technical challenges. We also enjoyed knowing her outside of school. A sweet, caring person. My sympathies to all the Curriers.
