Claremont, NH - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frank E. Fahey, beloved husband, father, brother, and uncle on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at age 82. Frank was born in Millinocket, Maine, the son of John and Frederica (Emery) Fahey, grandson of Frank and Maude (Scott) Emery, and John (Jack) and Laila (Scott) Fahey.

Growing up in Millinocket, Frank could see Mount Katahdin from his bedroom. Frank climbed the mountain many times himself, traversing several challenging trails including Knife Edge. As advisor to Pilgrim Fellowship at the Congregational Church, he led several student groups on hikes up the mountain. Later in life, Frank would spend countless weekends supporting his sons in their own hiking adventures.

Frank graduated from Stearns High School in Millinocket, Maine in 1961. He received a degree in business from Burdett College in Boston. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Siena College in Loudonville, New York and an MBA from Plymouth State University. Frank began his retail career with Kmart Corporation. He was responsible at Kmart for opening several stores in the tri-state area and New England. It was at Kmart in Scotia, New York where Frank met his forever wife, Jean, who as fate would have it, was working there briefly for a summer job. Frank and Jean were married in Scotia, New York in 1977. Jean was the love of Frank's life and he was hers. They were inseparable.

After his retail career, he became an educator and school administrator. Frank and Jean moved to Claremont where he taught Distributive Education at Stevens High School for 10 years. At Stevens, Frank drew upon his retail experience to teach his students all aspects of running a successful business along with instilling in them the importance of solid work habits. He was the club advisor to Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), and in that role he accompanied students to conferences in New Hampshire, Toronto, Washington, D.C., and New York City. Following his time at Stevens High School, Frank was the Assistant Principal at Newport High School and Vocational Director of the Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center, overseeing its construction and opening. After his time in Newport, Frank took a position as Vocational Director at the Sanford Regional Vocational Center in Sanford, Maine.

In retirement, Frank continued his love of learning by consistently taking classes for 22 years through ILEAD/Osher at Dartmouth, the Call Program at Keene State College, and Adventures in Learning at Colby-Sawyer College. Frank would always take a diverse range of courses, but always an art and music class. Frank loved the arts and enjoyed music of all kinds, but particularly loved jazz. He saw live performances of Dizzy Gillespie, Cab Calloway, Buddy Rich, Dave Brubeck, and many more. Frank continued his interest in the arts locally as a member, along with Jean, of the Hopkins Center and Hood Museum. Frank and Jean were also members of the Clark Museum, which they visited often to view new exhibitions. Frank also loved the theater and attended many plays with his family at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Dorset Theater Festival, and Northern Stage. He loved sports of all kinds and frequently attended Dartmouth Sports events with his sons.

The essence of Frank was his kindness, humility, and curiosity about the world around him. He opposed any type of injustice. Above all else, Frank loved his family and dedicated his life to ensuring their happiness and supporting them in their pursuits.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jean; his son John and his wife Anne; and his son Joseph and his wife Nicole. He is also survived by his brother Scott Fahey, niece Meghan Fahey, and nephew Sean Fahey.

Jean wants to thank her sons whose steadfast love and devotion to their father has helped her through her most difficult days.

Public viewing hours will be held on Friday, February 13, at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, New Hampshire, from 3:00-5:00pm. This will be followed at the same location by a prayer service and words of remembrance from 5:00-6:00pm. A committal service will take place this spring, and Frank will be laid to rest in the family plot in Millinocket Cemetery alongside his parents and grandparents.
