I met Bill Noel when both of us were in Ralph Weiss´s Photography Workshop. In those pre-triathlon days, Bill´s cycling was to leisurely explore the city with his then wife and daughter.
Bill was a comptroller in the apparel industry. When he got into running he applied his problem solving engineering and financial skills to bear on his work as a race director, track official, building fund raiser, and athletic event manager. His daughter, Anna, while still in her teens, was a quick learner of these skills and oversaw the New York Marathon pasta party.
As runners, Bill and I traveled to race in many venues, including Virginia for the Virginia 10 Miler, Atlanta (Bill´s home city) for the Peachtree 10K, and to Bermuda as international runners.
Through Bill I learned of Doug Stern´s Swimming Clinic and had Doug as my coach. It was as a competitive swimmer that Bill met Peggy. Bill´s triathlon skills were enviable, as were his many other accomplishments I knew nothing of his bungee jumping, so there is still so much more to learn of what grew out of his wide ranging interests.
My condolences go out to Peggy, Anna and immediate family, and to those who knew Bill through his larger, far reaching community.

Bill (and Peggy) were quite extraordinary in their love for physical activities, adventures and competitions. As a neighbor of Bill's, I remember him for his positive attitude, humor and sharp wit. And he was a sharp dresser too! He was also kind and always willing to help people. He was very fortunate in many ways and he will be missed by many people.
