Steven Samal Obituary
Turners Falls, MA - Steven David Samal, beloved father, son, and friend passed away on February 7, 2026 at home peacefully surrounded by family. He was 67. Steven was born on November 13, 1958, to Eloise and David Samal in Greenfield, MA. He attended Greenfield High School and grew up working on his father's golf course, Mohawk Meadows.
He and his closest friend, Andy Vivier, often traveled together. Steven later worked as a mechanic for Lightlife as well as an HVAC technician. If you knew Steven, you knew about his love for motocross and his summers in Florida to pursuit his motocross hobby. Steven was a skilled mechanic and described as a "jack of all trades".
Steven owned the Creamy property on Turners Falls Road, a local-favorite ice cream shop in the early 2000's. Steven enjoyed the company of his cat, Merlin. He is survived by his daughter Maghen Samal and son Steven Samal, along with his wife Julia Samal. A special thank you to everyone who took care of Steven in his final years of life. He will be laid to rest in the Green River Cemetery in Greenfield, alongside his parents following private services. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the McCarthy Funeral Homes of Greenfield and Turners Falls, MA. sorry to hear this, i have thought about him ( and andy) often. lots of childhood memories. we lived about a mile from each other.

my sympathy to everyone. I remember well Steve and Dave working at the meadows golf course. the sun shining down and those two were such good and hard workers doing whatever maintenance was needed on that day. those were such special times as they made it such a fun place to be for everyone. thank you so much for the memories. i will always miss those times. RIP Steve, Dave, and Eloise.
