Nicolene Kelly Corey
Greenfield, MA - On February 27, 2026, Nicolene Kelly Corey, passed away at the age of 46. Nicki was born on July 15, 1979, in
Greenfield, MA to Susan and Samuel Corey. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and grew up in Turners Falls. She graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1998, and from Sanford-Brown Institute in Springfield in 2004, specializing in medical billing and coding. Nicki worked for many years at the Greer Store at Deerfield Academy, she was a bartender and owner at Jigg's Tavern. She also worked at the Bank of Western Massachusetts, managed The Greenfield Garden Theater, and worked with her close friend, Kelly Phillips, at Cliff's Smokin' Backyard Barbeque & Catering. For the last ten years you could see Nicki every election, manning the voting as the warden for precinct 6 Montague City. One of Nicki's favorite jobs was as assistant camp director working alongside her mother at the D.A.R.E. camp at Holyoke Community College. For many years she lent her creativity to that program.
Nicki loved reading, and in the summers could often be found at the beach in Wells, Maine with her toes in the sand, enjoying a book. On the many family vacations to Maine, she would play endless games of Uno and Skip-Bo and was notorious for her joyful competitive nature. She loved to cook and bake. Her love language was making meals and sharing them with her family and friends. If you were loved by Nicki, you would undoubtedly receive weekly text messages offering delivery of soups, meals, baked goods, and treats. Nicki also had a talent for arranging flowers and she took a lot of pride in this. She created beautiful floral centerpieces and corsages for graduations, friend and family events, parties, and weddings.
Nicki was devoted to her family and friends. She could always be counted on to show up to games, concerts, life events, and parties. She had a huge heart, and if she said she was going to do something, she would always come through. She was a hard worker, loyal, reliable, and a fiercely good daughter, sister, mother, partner, and friend. Nicki loved music and would grab any opportunity she could to go see live bands and concerts. She loved to sing, had a wonderful voice, and loved going to karaoke to sing her favorite country songs. She was boisterous, and if Nicki was in a room, you knew it!
Nicolene is preceded in death by her father Samuel Corey, her mother-in-law, Patricia Greene Miner, and father-in-law Arthur J. Miner. She is survived by her son, Avery, her partner Shawn, and her step-children Alexander (Whitney Methany), Tyler (Amanda), and Nicole Miner. She is also survived by her grandfather Samuel T. Corey of Clarksville, Tennessee, her mother Susan, sister Samantha, brother Casey (Margaret), brother Jason (Angela), nieces Sadie and Abigail Corey, and Alexis (Ryan) Lambert, and great nieces Addison, Everleigh, and Olivia, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the
American Diabetes Association, The American Kidney Fund, and the
American Heart Association. Nicki lived with end stage kidney failure for many years, and would have encouraged anyone who is able, to become an organ donor.
