Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this month and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Lawrence S. Colton US Army Chief Warrant Officer.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

CW2 Colton was a extraordinary individual. I had the pleasure of serving with him and was deployed with him in 2004. CW2 and I also attended Tar Kwon Do classes in Korea and I will never forget those words he spoke to me, "I'm not good at this am I?" I said "it's all about having fun and enjoying yourself." I often think about him and how much I miss his warm smile.

To the family and loved ones of Shane Colton. First, I want to start by saying that I am deeply sorry for your loss. Shane was an extremely brave Soldier and pilot that I will never forget. I have worn a silver bracelet on my right wrist everyday for the past eleven years. On the bracelet is Shane and Chucks name and the date they died for our country. You see, I was the flight medic that was on the ground loading the wounded Soldiers from that ambushed fuel convoy into my MEDEVAC blackhawk. The LZ was extremely hot with enemy gunfire. Directly above us was Shane and Chuck in their Apache providing covering fire for us which allowed us to get the wounded in and takeoff. It was when we were taking off that we saw the SA-7 trail go up. I am now retired from the Army, but I can say this..if it were not for Shane and Chuck that dreadful day I, nor about 20 other Soldiers would be alive today. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. There are no words to describe the love of a brother that gives his life for another. Godspeed Shane, rest in peace!

The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.

While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more

To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one thing they truly deserve.

The loved one's that they have left behind,
The Gold Star mothers, like your and mine
We honor them proudly, every day
Our American Soldier...Proud and Brave
By Shannon Williams-Austill

I want to thank this soldier for their sacrifice.
And, I wish to extend my deepest regards to the loved ones they have left behind. Their service to our nation, has not gone unnoticed. They are our heroes, who paid the ultimate price for us, and that is something that every American needs to be reminded of and remember everyday.
The freedom we all have, we have because of brave young men and women who made a choice to defend and serve.
Today, let me remember your loved one with you.

I recently heard the news about Shane. I was stationed with him in Landstuhl and had the honor of being his friend. He was one of the most kind hearted people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. My deepest sympathies go out to his family. I remember when he met Inge. She was truly the light of his life. I also remember our little band we put together in the barracks. Shane didn't have drums, so he used boxes and buckets. It still sounded pretty darn good.

With the passing of yet another Memorial Day weekend, I'm humbly reminded that our family is not the only Gold Star family in Oklahoma. I've set aside time today to reflect on the past and remember that your family has suffered the loss of their soldier. Thank you for this soldier's service and duty. As he will always be dearly missed because he payed the ultimate sacrifice. He gave his life to protect our country and our freedom.

I recently picked up CW2 Colton's hero band. My Daddy went to Vietnam with the 1st Cav and has since passed so I wanted a piece to remember him and another Soldier from the 1st Cav as I leave next week for a year in Iraq ISO OIF. Today I looked up Mr. Colton and after reading his story and the lives saved as a result of his sacrifice; I am humbled by the honor I have to wear his legacy daily with me. As a Combat Medic, we depend on the aviators to help us save lives and I am only sorry I never got to meet him. Please know, his story will be carried on through me for all that inquire whose name is on my bracelet. Thank you for lending him to us (the military). His leadership, bravery and sacrifice still live on. He will never be forgotten.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

Please contact me and I will email you back a copy of the
Angel drawing I have posted here.

I did not know Shane, but I am remembering on
this day he gave his all.
He is my hero.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I was in the same company as Mr.Colton. We went to Iraq together the 1st time around. He slept in the cot right next to me. I admired him. He turned to me one day in Iraq and told me something that i will never forget he told me there wasnt many people he trusted with his life out there and he turned to me and told me that he trusted me with his life. I was just an PFC and a crewchief. He was more than a pilot he was out there pulling guard duty with the rest of us and was always willing to help. My condolences to his family just know that he will always be remembered god bless
