Brian Cutter Obituary

CUTTER, BRIAN KENNETH Age 19, of Devore passed away May 13th defending the country he loved. His goal in life was to be part of the United States Marine Corps. He considered the few and the proud the Marines his second family. Brian was in foster care and group homes most of his life. Brian was also involved with a national organization called CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). It is a national organization which helps find children mentors in their specific communities. Rex and Janice Davis found Brian by way of this wonderful organization. Rex and Janice considered Brian as their own son and Brian considered Rex and Janice his parents. They were a foster home exclusively to Brian. There was always a special connection from the beginning and he will always be remembered in a very special way. Rex and Janice will place a plaque in the living desert in his memory. Brian was able to meet his sister. After many years of never having contact with her on a short leave he traveled to Lake Havasu to meet his sister Jenifer dressed in his uniform. It's a day Brian would never forget. Brian was involved with the ROTC program all through high school. Brian loved animals and took great pride in their care. Brian was stationed at Camp Pendleton attached to the 3rd assault Amphibian Battalion 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. Brian had just left for Iraq before his passing. Brian overcame many obstacles in his life. When Marines say Semper Fi that's the creed he lived by, that's why he was born, to be a Marine. Services will be held on Tuesday at the Riverside National Cemetery Ampitheatre at 11:15 A.M. All are welcome to attend. Brian is survived by his adoptive parents, Rex and Janice Davis of Devore, a sister, Jenifer Kirsch of Lake Havasu, and other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Friends of the San Bernardino Public Library or Navy Marine Corp Relief Society at (760) 725-5337. Arrangements are being handled by MILLER-JONES MORENO VALLEY MORTUARY, 23618 Sunnymead Blvd., Moreno Valley, Ca. (909) 485-4542.

I knew Brian waaaaay back in middle school. I don't think that boy had one mean bone in his body. In our English class the poor guy somehow got seated in a sea of 12 and 13 year old girls. He once "baby sat" my digital pet for me and I know he probably didn't want to but he was my friend so he did it without even making a face. He was always an awesome, fun, extremely patient, beautiful soul. I will miss him dearly. I think I might have a couple pictures of him from our last day in the 7th grade, I will see. To his family, I'm so sorry for your loss, he was a great young man

Dear Brian, you were one of the bravest warrior God had sent to protect the people. It's truely sad and devastating to know your life was cut short. To us, you will always be our brother, to the country you will always be our hero and to God, you will always be his son. You have left a void in our hearts and you are still sadly missed through these years.

Brian Brian what can I say. It has been so long. I heard about your death when I came back from my tour in Afghanistan. It devistated me! I couldn't believe it. You were a great guy! I remember all the memories in JROTC. Drill Team, hanging out after school, having you stay for dinner. We were so proud that we were going to serve our country even though it wasn't going to be the same branch. We knew what we wanted to do with our lives and we were afraid of it. We were ready to make that sacrifce. I just didn't expect it so...soon. Brian you made that ultimate sacrifce and you will not be forgotten for it. I always hold a moment of silence for you. There is a cross for you on the Santa Monica Beach. It's not Arlington, VA but its Arlington West. I miss you man.

It is difficult to know what to say to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Pfc Cutter. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. I hope that Pfc Cutter knew that there are people in America who respect his great courage in serving as a member of the US military. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience, and for that we can never say thank you enough.
Thank you Pfc Cutter!

In Memory of Brian ~ (Debra Estep)

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Brian, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Brian I didn't know you at the time I was there when your tragedy occured in Al Asad. You died trying to help your fellow Marines out. Your family should be really proud of you! I hate that your life had ended so soon I thought about that horrific moment throughout my deployment and I remember that day having only been in country 2 days as well that we are not gauranteed tomorrow.. May your soul rest in peace and may God bless your family!

Brian, as i read your 19 years of life, i felt that you had traveled so many miles of a hard life. You have faces so many hardships in your short time on this earth. Yet you have made more of your self in those short times than most can in 60 years on this earth. I Worked in San Bernardino for the last 14 years for a Law Enforcement agency before moving to the uk. I wish i had been able to have shook your hand, You truly represent every thing Great about America. I Know God is Blessing you right now, and your standing tall on the streets of Heaven , Semper Fi Marine.....God Bless you and your loved ones.

I currently attend Ramona High school where I am the Editor and Chief of the newspaper, The RamPage. When Ramona heard of Brian Cutter and his story many were eager to learn more. I took on the article personally and would appreciate the assistance of anyone who knew Brian on a personal basis and would perhaps allow me to interview them for my article. Feel free to e-mail me any info you believe should be in the article, such as the type of music he enjoyed. My deadline for the article is Monday May 24, 2004. Thank you and I send my condolences to family and friends, I have heard nothing but positive things of Brian.
