To the family and friends of Pfc. Michael M. Carey:
It has truly been my honor to sign Michael's guest book these past few years. Unfortunately, due to complications from my Multiple Sclerosis, this may be the last message I'm able to write. Please forgive me and know that Michael will always be remembered in my home.

Hello to all who read, I served with Michael in the corps, went to engineer school with him in North Carolina, got to know him well and considered him a friend from the first time I met Michael. We then went on to Camp Pendleton California where we both were assigned to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, different company's but we seen each other for the most part everyday, always a great and charming person, always one to say hi or in some way bring a smile to your face even in times that were hard or rough. We both deployed to Iraq the first couple tours, O.I.F 1 and 2. Rarely got to see him while deployed but did a few times, I would ask how his wife was doing knowing she was carrying his child as my wife was at the time, we both shared that special bond, being over there, our wives pregnant, we would ask how they were doing, coping things like that. Tried to keep each other upbeat during that hard time. Me and Michael shared a lot in common besides the obvious, we both went through a bad time in May of 04, I was wounded on May 1st, a month and a half before my son was born, Michael a couple weeks later gave that ultimate sacrafice, he did not get the chance God allowed me to meet my son as he'd didn't get the chance to meet and raise his daughter. Absolutely breaks my heart more than anything, call it unfair, unjust because he more than most because of the man he was didn't deserve that, but only God knows why. To Michaels family and that little girl truly my heart goes out to you and hope one day to be able to talk to all of you, it would be an honor and privilege. My name is Michael Phillips and im damn glad to have known Michael. Semper Fidelis!

Thank you young Marine for the sacrifice that you made long ago for your baby girl. Although these words hardly seem enough, please be aware that you have not been forgotten even by those who did not know you personally.

I don't know you or your family. I am so sorry that you never got to meet your daughter. You lost your life in the same place that my grandson, Jeremy Tinnel lost his life. He lost his life trying to save a fellow Marine. Thanks.

It has almost been 5 years since you passed away, and not a day goes by that my heart does'nt break in a million pieces over your passing. I lost my best friend that day and nothing has been the same since. I always wondered why it seemed that you were living your life way to fast, but I know now it was because it would end far too soon!Had you not gotten your ged at 15 and college credits at 16 you would have never been able to join the Marine Corps so young. You were only 16 years old when you enlisted in the Marine Corps and barely 17 when you went to boot camp. You were always and old soul in a young mans body though! That was my boy!

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Michael, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

TO Michael's Family-

My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.

They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.

Yesterday, Today, Forever – Semper Fi - Marines!

Dearest Family and Loved Ones of PFC Michael M. Carey... You do not know me even tho' I live only a town away from you. I wanted to sign Michael's guest book because I wanted to express to you my sympathy in the loss of your loved one from this earth...and to thank you for the love and the support you gave him while he served his country--for you and for me! I read that he never had a chance to meet his new little baby girl--my husband's father was killed in WWII and never saw him either. Take comfort, if you can, in believing that Michael is there with her...and with the rest of his family...watching, smiling, loving all of you still--now he just does it from a different place. Mia will be so proud of him when she is old enough to understand! I am proud of him and I never knew him either! Thank you, family, for all the love you gave Michael --and that you taught him to give to others for himself, his family, and his country! God bless you all...

I have a brother right now serving in Kwait and I worry each and every day for him and everyone over there. I want to say that you have a very special place in my heart and thank you very much.
