Hello,

We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Arthur S. Mastrapa US Army Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

I was there the day the attack took place. I'm not sure of who I helped after the dust cleared but I wish that there was more that I could have done to help.

To the family of Sgt. Mastrapa,
Please know that just as your loved one will remain in your hearts and minds, his sacrifice and that of your family, will remain with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God bless and keep you.

Strap,
It has been 4 years since you left us. It seems like yesterday when I was assigned to the 351st and we met for the first time. You were a great friend and leader. I will never forget you.

In Memory of Arthur ~ (Debra Estep)

June 16, 2008

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Arthur, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I remember hearing this sad story like it was yesterday. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten SGT Mastrapa!!!! My thoughts and prayers go out to the Mastrapa family this Memorial Weekend. I felt and heard the explosion that day and will never forget it.

You are remembered and respected. Thank you Sgt Mastrapa!

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Jennifer;
I don't know if you remember me, but I was a Desk Sergeant in Bad Kreuznach when Mastrapa finally got his wish, and you joined him in Germany. I remember he was so excited. I remember when you had your beautiful little girl, and I remember the talks that we had. He was a sweet and funny guy; and entirely devoted to you. He was special. (Kathleen Light, MP SGT,)

I had the honor of flying out of Camp Anaconda, Iraq with the flag covered casket of Sgt. Mastrapa. I was a security coordinator with Halliburton. I can only assure his family and friends that a new mother could not have carried a new born child with more care than those who carried Arthur to the flight that took him on his last trip home.

As an active member of the U.S. Navy. I am constantly reminded of the dangers, the sacrifices, and hardships we all endure, but every single person that pays the ultimate sacrifice upon the altar of freedom that we as Americans enjoy every day, I am both saddened and supremely proud of their great love for country and humanity. To you that are survived my heart and unending gratititude go out to you, and although I never knew your son, I do know that he is a real HERO!

I met Stacey thru his cousin Evelyn

when Stacey was buying his house.

Very warm, very caring and I went with Evelyn to Stacey's funeral.

The impact the service had on me, seeing all of his unit there, the eulogies, was overwhelming.

My prayers are still with his family, Jennifer and the kids.

He will always be watching over you!!

Love always

I am sorry for your lose. I know it is hard. I served with Sgt Mastrapa in Iraq. I think about that day alot and remember that I had just left that spot and still have a hard time with my feelings. He always spoke of his kids and how beautiful they were and how he could not wait to see them again. My prayers go out to you and the family.

I know he is with us all in some special way.

I served with Mastrapa in Iraq. He and I use to always talk about our families and how we had children of the same age. I know it has been a year but the family is still in my prayers. I am currently serving my second tour in Iraq and sometimes visit where his mission had ended. I tell my wife not to worry about me because I know he is looking down on me. I think about him everyday I am here. I see the memorials they have for him and I know he was an outstanding person. I stand at those memorials and have a moment of silence. My thoughts are with Jennifer and the kids. He loved you all so much, his family meant everything to him. (former 351st MP Company). I am now with the 101st and I know he is with me everyday I am here. You are missed not just by me but my wife as well.

To the Mastrapa Family,

I'm so sorry for your loss. You and your family will be in my prayers. Stacy was two years ahead of me at Forest Lake...so he was a senior when I was a sophmore. He had a way of picking on us that made us feel at ease...he broke the ice with laughter and a warm smile...something I will always be thankful for.
