Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this month and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Nickalous Neil "PUG" Aldrich US Marine Lance Corporal.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

One of mine I had the honor to run was for LCPL Nickalous N. Aldrich and proudly rang a bell in his memory at the end. Yesterday I ran a race for someone I had never met, and now, will never forget.

I don't even know where to begin..... as I fight back the tears in remembrance of my brother. He was my BABY and became a fine young man. I know that we were only borrowing him from our GOD, but I surly wasn't ready to give him back. He was actually sending his belongings home to my house as he was preparing to come home from Iraq. Unfourtanally instead, I got the phone call. They didn't tell me, but I knew. But I also know that he is right where he is supposed to be and I CAN'T WAIT to be with him again. My life is not the same without him here. I named my first son after him ( Dane Nickalous ) Those of you who knew my brother you know that I cannot put into words what a special person and a fine proud marine he was. Those of you who did not get blessed with the pleasure of meeting him, I can be the first to tell you that you missed out on one hell of a person. Thanks to eveyone that choose to write in his guest book. I have to stop now, cuz I could just go on and on...... My thoughts and prayers are with all our soldiers... (hope not to loose anymore )GOD BLESS AMARICA

Your mother has been after me to write something for you and so I've been mulling over what to put... I have been going through the long journey back in time yes that time when you was just a little blond haired boy. You was so innocent and sweet. A good kid!
So how did we get to this final day... God had chosen you to do a great work for Him and when your job was done he called you home...but those here on earth miss you. Thank-you Pug for those memories to hold on to. You became a grown man too soon and we lost you way too soon

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To All Parents
“I’ll lend you for a little time a child of Mine,” He said.
“For you to love the While he lives and mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years, or 22 or three,
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief.
You’ll have his lovely memories as solace and relief.
“I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return,
But there are some lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to take him back again?”
For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness, we’ll love him while we may
And for the happiness we’ve known forever grateful stay;
But shall the angels call for him much sooner than we’ve planned.
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.”

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Le Ron A. To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

I want to say first of all how proud of this young man and I'm so very sorry for his families loss. I want the family to know that I am very proud of each and every person who fights for our rights here and gives us the freedom to live like we live. I have a brother right now serving in Kwait and I worry each and every day for him and everyone over there. I want to say that you have a very special place in my heart and thank you very much.

We are parents of a Marine, currently serving in Iraq. Thank you for raising a son who felt and acted on that desire to serve his country. May you be comforted by our Savior in your loss and in the days and months ahead. We honor Lcpl Aldrich's service and say thank you for his and your sacrifice. May God bless you and your family. Words can not say how sorry I am to hear that Pug has left us and gone to a better place. I went to elementary and middle school with him. My husband Vincent Vasquez graduated in 2001 with him, so we both got the pleasure to meet and know him. Our prayers are with you and your family. He was such a great guy with a big heart. God has a reason for everything and I am glad that I was able to be in a small part of his life. God Bless You.

I am so sorry for the loss of Nick, I myself went to Lanier High. I knew of him. Always saw him around and happy as could be. I pulled out my highschool senior photo and cried knowing he is gone, but he is in a better place. I'm sorry i couldn't attend the funeral, but my thoughts will be with him.

I'm so sorry this had to happen to him. He will be missed.

The loss of my Marine brother and two tours in Vietnam with the loss of members of my organizations have not provided me with words to adequately express my deep sorrow and distress at your loss. Being proud helps, but will never compensate.

To the Aldrich Family,

Our deepest condolences on the passing away of Pug. We have known Pug for many years. We are proud to have known him and appreciate his service to this wonderful and great country. We will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and we regret we cannot attend his service on Friday. I know my father in law will do what he can to honor his memory. Pug has made in impact in many lives and has touched many hearts. What an honor to have had a son like him. The angels rejoice in Heaven to have him now. May God bless you during this time.

All of our hearts grieve for those lost in this war. I pray for your family as they work through their sorrow and know that as I tuck my kids in at night, I know that it is because of the efforts of men and women like your son that have made his peaceful rest possible.
