Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard, I will always remember you and the family of Jeremiah in my prayers and hope that some semblance of peace finds you in time. Thank you for your son who, alongside Jeremiah is with family and watching over you day and night. The only peace in all of this is that his last moment on earth was with his closest friend, doing what he felt was right. I believe history will prove it was the right thing to do and his noble sacrifice will give opportunity to millions that would have never known a peaceful life. My name is Kenna; I am trying to contact the family of fallen soldier Lance Cpl. Anthony E. Butterfield who died July 29th, 2006, while fighting for our Country, war on terror. I am the secretary of Project Compassion, a nonprofit organization who paints portraits of fallen soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our Country. These portraits are 100% free and they are painted and shipped directly to the family of to the door so that they can always be “Honored and Remembered”. In oif 1, I was Hubbards team leader and that guy was the best, I tell you what.The train station that our battalion stayed at our squad actually discovered it on a patrol, and we searched the whole station to gain intel, and reported back to our platoon. Within the next couple days the battalion was moving in.I remember one time, well, it's kind of a funny story, when 1st platoon and us (2nd platoon) were teamed up and we patrolled quite a ways from the train station so we all ended up staying in these buildings that looked like a 1 story motel with a empty quad area in the middle and the buildings wrapped around the quad and there was also a brick wall around the perimeter. Anyways one day both 1st and 2nd plt went out on a patrol and a few Marines from both plt's stayed behind for what ever reasons and since all the officers left, hubbard and I knew that our xo (executive officer) had a shower in his room. So we get this bright idea to go ahead and sneak into his room and try to shower but the only thing with that was there showers are not like our showers, you would have to fill this big metal container on the roof with water so that the water would flow down the pipe to the shower head. So hubbard being the motivater that he is decides that he's gonna climb to the roof with a 5 gallon water jug and fill the container with water but the container either wouldn't open or the water wasn't flowing through, and so we just decided to bring the jugs into the shower and take turns showering. We took turns looking out to make sure no one was coming. We just would pour the jug of water directly over our head, we brought soap and everything. so we finally showered after about 40,50 days and we were clean, but the weird thing about that was that we felt out of our element because it's so dirty there and we were so clean. as wierd as it sounds,it felt more comfortable actually being dirty. But thats just a funny story that I always remember about Hubbard. Hubbard I miss you bro, for reals. I think about you alot. something I never said out loud, but I always in a way looked up to you, You are such a good person and I always admired that, always smiling and not letting any situation get you down. you were always optimistic, and would always be one of the first to volunteer for anything whether good or bad. Hey bro, I'll see you later. you'll always be in my heart. Semper Fi.

Corp values of “Honor, Courage and Commitment” for his unit and this country, but also for

We’re not sure if our boys would have understood this when they left for bootcamp, but from what we saw and felt on their graduation, they seemed to have discovered a sense of purpose. They were very confident of what they had accomplished. Our boys could have made other choices, gone to school, found a job or just “bummed” around, but they did not. Their sense of duty has taken them on this journey.
We take comfort in thinking that our fallen heroes are now in the company of all those who have gone before them and is now with his brother Nathan. Lcpl Hubbard, we salute you for your commitment. For Jared’s family, we pray God will give you the courage to be strong for each other. We shall live to honor our fallen heroes, for they did “something about it”.

Dear Jeff and Peggy:
You may not remember me and that is okay. I could not believe the news that it has happened again. I remember when Jared died and could not bring myself to contact you, but now after going through the same feeling of our men going off to war I know Jared and Nathan did the best they could. I hope that in this time of need everything will be okay. Please tell Jason to be careful and that he did honor his brothers in the best way he could. I hope Jason will stay home and honor his brothers this way. He has done everything right no matter how he feels. Tell Jason for me that he is loved by many just as Jared and Nathan were. Tell Uncle Dennis I am sorry for his loss as well.

Oh how my stomach droped when I heard of the loss of this young Cpl. Knowing he was so young just hurts. Mrs. Hubbard loosing 2 sons would be so hard. They are in heaven now but hold on to your son who is living. Thank you for your sacrfice of giving your son's to making our country a safer place to live.

I cannot begin to understand what you, Mr and Mrs Hubbard, and your son returning from combat are feeling at this time. I just heard of your double loss of your brave and courageous young men and the return of their brother and I have to let you know, as a US citizen and mother of two boys, one almost 18, we Thank you and your sons for their service and protection. To the Parents of both Jared and Nathan. I first learned about your son Nathan and read about Jared. We lost our son, 1st Lt. Jared Landaker in Feb. He was a Marine Corps pilot on his last flight before being shot down in Iraq. I wonder how to survive this loss and then I come across bigger heros. I give thanks for people like yourselves who have given so much. Your sons will always be remembered and honored.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Le Ron A. Wilson (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

Remember me? From Buchanan. We had Mrs. Andrews together sophmore year. A few other classes along the way til we graduated. I didn't get to know you as much as some of our other classmates did, but I always knew you were special. When I saw your picture November 2004 I couldn't belive what had happened. You were an awesome classmate.

My son Mark reinlisted as actve duty after years of being a reservist. I am proud of you guys since you and him serve the toughest & finest branch of the military! I don't know you & your best friend personally but it seems like "military families" feel for each other anytime. I'm very sure everyone in your family misses you.

I am Deeply saddened to learn of the loss of this Fine Young Marine, Lance Cpl. Jared P. Hubbard two years ago today.
The price this young hero and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
May he rest safely in the Loving Care of God and may the Peace of the Lord continue to be with the Hubbard family.
There will never be enough ways to humbly thank these heroes for their Supreme Sacrifice, my brother among them. KIA~Vietnam, 1967.

"Jared Hubbard was my cousin in which i loved dearly!When he joined the marines he Became my hero at a fast pase! But i soon figured out that he had left for a tour in iraq and i was crushed because i knew what the riskes were! But i prayed everyday during the first tour and when he came home for the Thanksgiving dinner I was Struck with wide eyes when i saw jared walk thru the door with uncle jeff and aunt peggy!Me and my Family members were just so exited to see our Jared home and safe! but when the time came for jared to leave we were once again struck with heart ache because he was soon returing to iraq!! when jared left for iraq i figured he would be ok but the day i herd he had been killed my world came to a screechign holt!! Knowign that my cousin jared is gone to a better place gives me some relief but he is still always out of my reach. I Think of him constantly because he was my hero and still is my hero because he died doign what he thougfht was right ! he served for the usa! and he will alway be respected by many!i Love jared Hubbard and im glad peopel do this kind of thing to support and relieve the family memebers of thier family!!!I love Jared p. Hubbard and Baro! My heros for life

It is now 2006. I knew jared very well but had moved away during high school but did remain in contact until about 1999with jared. I didnt know of this story but now i do and want both families to know that my thoughts and prayers go out to you and i am deeply sorry for your lost jared was a great guy. he will be deeply missed

Dear Hubbard Family, I heard of your loss of Jared on the news last week and was deeply saddened. I graduated from Hoover High school with Jeff Hubbard in 1975. I also lost my only child "Felicia" in a car accident in 1995 when she was 21. My heart goes out to you all and I pray that God will ease your pain.

Hello again Jared, it has been one year since I learned of your death. As I have told you before I never met you or Jeremiah. But I learned of your death as many other Americans did. I have visited your grave and I left something honoring your sacrifice. Yours and Jeremiah’s lives were something to be proud of. You were the best of friends and you lived your lives the right way. Believing in God, Country, Family and the Corp. I only wish that you were still here and I would have had the honor of meeting you. There have been many men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice in this battle but for me you and Jeremiah have touched a cord within me that will never die. As you have seen in many, many messages neither of you will ever be forgotten. God bless your family because they raised a great man. Semper Fi.
