Patricia Bird Obituary

Patricia Ann (Clary) Bird, known as "Pat" by friends and family, passed away peacefully on Feb. 1, 2026 at the age of 90. She grew up in Fresno, CA, attending Burroughs Elementary and Theodore Roosevelt Junior and Senior High Schools and graduating in 1954. She then married her high school sweetheart Jerry Bird at Lowry Air Force Base outside of Denver, CO where he was stationed at that time. They enjoyed a union of seventy years until Jerry's passing in 2025.

Pat was an avid reader her entire life. She often read multiple novels concurrently and was a frequent visitor at the Fresno County Free Library. She and Jerry traveled both Europe and the U.S. extensively and enjoyed both ocean and river cruises over many years. They were devoted Fresno State Bulldogs fans and frequently "hit the road" with Tim Schiller's Red Wave Express. Other favorite pastimes included attending Fresno State's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) and participating in the Road Scholar organization. In addition, the San Francisco Giants had no greater fan than Pat who rarely missed a baseball game.

Employed by Fresno Unified School District for over 30 years, Pat served as a clerk and registrar at several schools over the course of her career, notably Duncan Polytechnical High School. She developed many friendships along the way and enjoyed her work at every school.

Predeceasing Pat was her beloved husband Jerry. She is survived by her daughter Erin Kachadurian, son Michael Bird, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

As was her wish, no service or memorial will be held. Interment was at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA. Remembrances may be made to Friends of the Fresno County Public Library, P.O. Box 4253, Fresno, CA 93744-4253.

Dear Erin and Allen, I read in today´s obituaries that your lovely Mom passed away. My sincere sympathy to you and the family on the loss. I remember "Mrs. Bird" fondly on the occasions we would see each other. Your Mom and Dad were from a special generation who honored family, faith, country, and friends. These traditional values were passed on to their children and grandchildren and their spirits will live on in you. May your parents rest in heavenly peace and enjoy the company, once again, or their khunames. Love, Cousin Paulette

Pat enjoyed many events with the Kach clan. She loved playing Bingo at the Antranikian Easter celebrations and the exciting prizes she always seemed to win. She was especially kind to our daughter, Brianna, who happily called the numbers for the Bingo regulars. RIP Pat. You left a beautiful legacy your infectious laugh is missed

I can scarcely remember my life without Pat being a part of it. When you met her she was instantly on your side. She loved telling tales and spreading fun gossip. I knew her to be a devoted wife and mother who was always quick with her wit and engaging conversation. There was no topic she wasn´t up on and it was obvious she was very well read. Above all I think I knew and respected her as a friend. A beautiful soul left us for the warm embrace of Heaven. I carry a bit of Pat and Jerry within me always as a reminder that being gentle and kind to others is remembered long after we part ways.

Too many to list. The family always had fun together due to our sense of humor. Many trips to Fresno after we moved away. So do you remember the Cobra? Or Gumby?
