David H. "Dave" Bird, 77 of Harpursville died Thurs. March 19, 2026 at his home. He was predeceased by his parents, David & Pearl Bird and a sister, Wanda Stevens.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eileen Bird, son & daughter-in-law, David & Tracie Bird, Brian Bird & Kelly McHugh-Bird, daughter & son-in-law, Julie & Michael TenKate, his granddaughters, Abaigail (Brad) Schulman, Lindsey (Austin Denton) Bird, Blake Bird, Callie TenKate, and Maddy TenKate, and also nieces & nephews.

He was a former employee of Horton Hardware, former facility manager at UHS, a goat framer and dairy farmer. He was a former member and Chief of Long Valley Fire Dept. and the Harpursville Fire Dept.

Memorial Services will be held at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home 69-71 Maple Street Harpursville on Sat. March 28, 2026 at 12 noon. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in New Jersey at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home on Sat. March 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon prior to service.
