To the Miller family,
My deepest sympathy goes out to you. This country and my family cannot thank you enough for the sacrifice this young man has made. I ran across this name looking at the stories from my little brother who died there in
Fallujah the very same day. It is a pain that never goes away and a story that needs to be remembered. My heart goes out to you all. The thing that gets me through the day is to know these young men were needed more somewhere else and that they now rest in a better place.
Your young man is truly a hero and gave the biggest sacrifice of all. Thank you.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know William, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Two nights ago I saw the CNN Story about the brave Marines that made their advance into Fallujah and watched in awe how these young men went building to building not knowing what was around the next corner. The bravery of Lance Cpl. William L. Miller and the other wonderful Marines highlighted on that program is now a memory that I won't ever not think about everyday. I will never forget the sacrifice that Lance Cpl. William L. Miller and the others have made for me and my family. I sincerely mean that, and will mention them at the Thanksgiving table while my family is gathered in prayer. I can not tell you how unbelievably proud I am of those young men. I thank Lance Cpl. William L. Miller. I thank you, and I thank God for the Marines. God Bless those brave Men, and God Bless America.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Dear Miller family.

Thirteen years ago today I lost my grandfather, a Purple Heart vetern of WWII. His name was William L. Miller.

While doing an Internet search for items about my William L. Miller, I found yours.

Please know that as my family meets for Memorial Day to honor those who have fought and lost, I will share my findings of your William and we'll pray for him and for you just as we pray for my grandfather.

While I don't agree with the war and its politics, I support our men and women who are just doing their jobs.

The words I'm sorry can't express how sorry I am for your loss. For our Country's loss. But I thank you and I thank your son, grandson, brother, or husband. Whoever William was to you. He was brave. He was proud. And I know this because he was a Marine.

God Bless you.

Id like to pass on my sympathy, but even more my respect and admiration for Lance Cpl. William L. Miller. I personally did not know Cpl. Miller, however I know the sacrifice he made. Its very clear. And to me I cherish that sacrifice he and so many more of our young men and women have made. With every ounce of my fiber I wish it never happened, but being that it did, I am forever grateful to their sacrifice. On this memorial day I hope everyone says a prayer for all the wonderful men and women, who have been KIA in recent conflicts. They are a generation who have stepped up when the call of liberty and freedom rang out loud and clear, they were just the ones who heard that sound, and signed that dotted line. I pray and thank God for people like Lance Cpl. William L. Miller. RIP

Miller and I arrived to rota around the same time. the whole duration of our assignment to the unit we worked side-by-side in the same team for about two years. At the end of our time with the unit, miller was in my fire-team. i really didnt look at it being my team it was was more like our team. i remember when i would always have to tell miller to calm down because he was always hyper and active. i also remember the first few weeks we were in rota, we went on a training op to the United kingdom. while in the U.K. we had some time off and one of the days we had liberty, we got so drunk that miller was dancing on the dance floor and made a fool of himself, it was a great time. we had many great times while working with each other, in training, missions or liberty. the second to the last time i saw miller was right before he went to another unit, he had early orders to the fleet, we had a few farewell drinks at the cali-bar(rota marines know). i remember the last time me and miller saw each other, right outside the city of fallujah at camp fallujah. i remember being so happy to see him, its a rarity to see old marine buddies in iraq, especially before a huge assault. i saw miller a few days before he passed. the last thing i said to him was "see you soon man, stay safe brother." after the assault many marines lives were taken, and many marines were injured. i found out about miller a few weeks later through a friend. it was a tragedy to hear about miller. i will always remember the great time we had. Friend, Fellow marine, Brother. Miller, you are not forgotten.

How do you begin to thank the family of a soldier who has made the ultimate sacrifice? After the tears have passed, hold your heads up in pride, and never think, or allow anyone to make you think, for a moment that Billy died in vain. I recall graffiti from a guardshack I was posted at one lonely, foggy night in England a long time ago that read: Someday, somewhere, a child will look toward the stars, and say "O Lord bless them, for they fought and died for what they knew was right". I know that future generations of American and Iraqi children will be grateful to Billy and his fallen comrades for their precious gift of security and freedom. Thank you, and deepest sympathies.
