Louise Sutton Obituary

Louise Sutton
12/10/1932 - 01/29/2026
Louise Shirley Hooper Sutton, age 93, of Houston, Texas, born December 10, 1932, in Sarepta, Louisiana, went peacefully to be with Christ on January 29,2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Gipson Sutton Jr., her parents, Catherine Saunders Bonsack Hooper and Louis Grady Hooper and her older sister, Catharine B. London.
A lifelong teacher, Louise attended Stephens College on an art scholarship, and later returned to school to earn her Bachelors degree from Houston Baptist College and her Masters from The University of Houston, graduating with honors. She made sure her children were exposed to the arts and was a longtime patron of the Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera.
Louise was a woman of strong Christian faith, a talented artist, and an avid gardener, especially known for her amaryllis. She held strong beliefs and opinions concerning many subjects, primarily religion and politics but she could be gracious with those uninformed enough to have a different point of view. She loved making pralines, oatmeal cookies and peanut brittle for her friends and family, had a fondness for the color red and enjoyed celebrating life's joys with family and friends. Louise cherished her multiple cats and loyal dogs with which she is no doubt happily reunited with in Heaven.
Louise is survived by her children, Nancy Elizabeth Sutton Levick; Michael Herbert Sutton (Kathy); and Thomas Louis Sutton (Dana); her grandchildren, Evan Levick Larwood (Charles), Erin Levick Perry (Mitchell), Bradley Michael Sutton (Alexis), Thomas Alan Sutton, Megan Sutton Howard (Colin), and Emily Sutton Morby (Carter) and her great-grandchildren, Wyatt Larwood, Waylon Larwood, Everett Perry, Emmett Perry, Harper Howard, Hadley Howard, Hunter Louise Howard, Caroline Morby, Sutton Morby, and Maisie Morby, her brother Louis Grady Hooper Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved their "Lulu" deeply. She will be remembered as a devoted mother and beloved grandmother who loved Jesus, and whose love lives on through her family.
There will be a Celebration of Louise's Life at Ascension Episcopal Church, 2525 Seagler, Houston, TX 77042 on Saturday, March 7 at 1:00 pm. A graveside service will follow on Sunday, March 8 at Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville, Texas at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family request gifts be made to Ascension Episcopal Church, 2525 Seagler, Houston, TX 77042.

What a delight to have known Louise through Grace Presbyterian. A wonderful supporter of Grace and other missions. She was a lady of Grace with a kind heart and loving attitude even in times of illness. Blessings to her family.

It was an honor reunited with her at the place she lived and I worked at. She was my 3rd and 4th grade teacher at Hollibrook Elementary in Spring Branch. She always showed patients and kindness to me and amongst the other students. She was the best and the one I ALWAYSED remembered. May God give her the biggest stones for the crown I know she deeply deserves in heaven. She will be greatly missed. Love you Mrs. Sutton

Blessings to all of her immediate family and all who knew Louise. She was a wonderful person and we were lucky to have her in our lives. May the happy memories continue to provide comfort to everyone in the days ahead. My mother Marilyn passed just this week and I´m sure she and Louise are reunited in heaven. God bless.
