Louann E Dillon

Louann Elizabeth Goodnight Dillon was born on September 2, 1927 in Lafayette , Indiana. She passed into spirit on March 17, 2026 in Ellettsville, Indiana. She had a long and wonderful life. She was always surrounded by loving family and friends wherever she went. She was a kind and generous person with her time and gifts. She had a warm smile and beautiful bright blue eyes .Louann had a friendly personality. She was always very busy and on the go. She grew up in Lafayette, graduating from Jefferson High School in 1945. Louann and her family were long time members of the Baptist Church in Lafayette. She proceeded to Stephen's College in Columbia, Missouri for her college education along with a year at Indiana University. Louann married Ward Dillon from Sterling, Illinois( and Purdue University) in 1948. They had a great time working together for over forty years at Dillon Hardware Store in Lafayette across the street from Goodnight's Drug Store. They travelled all around the world when she had Dillon Travel Arrangements for ten years in Long Boat Key, Florida. Louann was very fond of their home for decades on Lingle Avenue. Many happy memories were made there. Louann loved her bridge club, and the Lafayette Country Club, and helping her community. She was active in many charities and organizations in Lafayette, including the Tri Kappa Sorority, P.E.O., and the Tippecanoe Historical Society. Louann and Ward had three children: Stephen, Sharon, and Elisa. They had three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.They always had dogs and cats for pets as part of the family. Louann's husband for over sixty years; Ward, her parents ; Earl and Caroline Goodnight, her brothers ; Kenneth, Maurice, and Francis; and her cousin Carol Reynolds all preceded her in death. Her close friend, Yvonne Bryant passed the same day as Louann. The Celebration of Life for Louann will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 2:00pm at Hippensteel Funeral Home 822 N. 9th Street Lafayette, Indiana 47904. Public viewing is from 1:00-2:00 pm.
