Pfc. Jesus Fonseca Jr., 19, of Marietta, died Monday, January 17, 2005 while defending his country in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. He is survived by his wife, Marlen of Jalisco, Mexico, his father, Jesus Fonseca, Sr., mother, Gloria Fonseca, sisters, Patricia Rodriguez, Gloria Fonseca, brothers, Jose Fonseca, Ricardo Fonseca, David Fonseca, all of Marietta, GA; many aunts, uncles nieces, nephews, friends and one grateful nation. The body will lie in state from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Friday, January 28, 2005 at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta, with a Catholic Funeral Mass to follow. The Monsignor, Patrick Bishop and Father, Fernando Ruge will conduct the service. The Community is invited to attend. Burial will be held in Degollado, Jalisco, Mexico with full military honors. The family would like to thank the community for their support, The United States Army and Political Dignitaries for their understanding and condolences. Floral offerings may be sent to Transfiguration Catholic Church. SouthCare Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements, 770-427-9292.

I am trying to get into contact with Jesus's family. I wanted to visit his grave in Dellagado but I cannot find out where it is exactly. Also, if any if the family wanted to talk, I was in Jesus's Squad and we were very close. I was on leave when he was killed but we were great friends from Korea until his death.

We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Fonseca Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to troops in Afghanistan this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Jesus Fonseca Jr. US Army Private 1st Class. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. Love Lives On

Those we love remain with us
for love itself lives on,
and cherished memories never fade
because a loved one's gone.

The Landstuhl Hospital Care Project has honored Pfc. Jesus Fonseca Jr. with shipments of care and comfort items to wounded troops in military hospitals stateside and overseas for February 2008. This includes the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany and field medical units in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

It is hard to believe that it has been two and a half years since I last saw you and some of your family members at the Roswell World Harvest Church when your son was honored as a True American Hero. I also remember when we all cried on Memorial Day of that same year when the brick I had installed in the Roswell Faces of War Memorial was dedicated. I want you to know that I have not forgotten your son or your family. You have all been and will continue to be in my prayers. My best to you and all of your family members. There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Jesus was a more than a friend for me and Isaac Ortega. We were together from Korea to the day he was killed. Through all the good times and the bad, we were always there and laughing thank to Jesus. I just want his family to know how much he cared about them. Always telling us stories of Mexico and sharing the incredible care packages his sister always sent. I miss him terribly and love him more than i could have ever put into words. He is forever missed and remembered by his brothers, and especialy Ortega and I.

Neil served with your son in Korea and in Iraq, and thought alot of him.Neil attended your sons memorial in Iraq last week and told us it was a very caring and thoughtful service.
