To the family and friends of Glenn.
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers today.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Glenn, but he is my hero. If you would like a copy of the Angel drawing I posted, contact me and I will email that to you.

Years ago I served with Glenn in the California National Guard. Then I lost contact with him for over year and out of no where I ran into him at Ft Lewis Washington gearing up for Iraq in the Winter of 2003. Funny thing was we ended up out of sheer coninsidence going to Iraq at the same time in the same 161 Infantry unit. Glenn and I would joke and laugh at the fact that we ended up just running into eachother. While In iraq we where split into seperate companies and I saw him from time to time manning the check point at the 14th of July Bridge in downtown Baghdad. As I would come through the check point I would throw empty water bottles at him and give him a hard time by yelling at him. It brightend both of our days to see a familiar face. I came home in March of 05 and didnt hear about his death until a mutual friend told me. I was devistated. He was my friend and he is missed. AIRBORNE!

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I served with Glenn on a few occasions. I deployed with him to Kuwait in 2001 at Camp Doha and again with him when we all met up at Camp Falcon, Iraq with the 1-184. We drilled together many times before that and He will be deeply missed. He used to call me little H and I will never forget his humor and that smile. God bless you Glenn and all family and friends who ever knew you like we did and sorry it took me this long to write. I'm headed back to Iraq as well, except this time I don't have much of a choice. I know he'll be watching our back again as he always did.

I just typed in a name from the past on the internet and was stunned by this...

I served with Glenn on The U.S.S. Butte in the early 80's. He was a good friend and I never held his switch to the army against him, anyone who knew him or served with him knew it was the army's gain and the navy's loss. Glenn, you are missed my friend...

I was watching tv on memorial day this year and I saw a good friend of mine had passed. Glenn and I were roomates for about two years(give or take a month or so) I could talk all day but I would just like to say that the only concert I have ever been to was with Glenn, Joan Jett, Oh the endless talk of her! I have never had the pleasure of spending time in the field with such a soft spoken ex squid. I will forever cherish my memories with Glenn. I am sorry but I just don't have the words. Do not stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the snow on the mountain's rim,

I am the laughter in children's eyes,

I am the sand at the water's edge,

I am the sunlight on ripened grain,

I am the gentle Autumn rain,

When you awaken in the morning's hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight,

I am the star that shines at night,

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there, I did not die.

He was a Hero .
