PFC Tucker- I was a nurse on duty in the hospital at KAF you were flown to. I think of you every May and Memorial Day. I was only 1 year older than you. We worked so long and hard to try and save you. I´m sorry we weren´t successful. You will never be forgotten. My condolences to your loved ones.

My fiancé found this bracelet about 15 years ago while walking home from school in Omak, Washington. We have been carrying it around with us and I finally found somewhere to post about it. If anyone happens to know who would be missing this, I would love to reunite them. I can be emailed at [email protected]

Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Steven C. Tucker US Army Private 1st Class. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Steven however I met a dear friend of his on a plane. His friend was returning to Afghanistan. I recently found the memorial bracelet that he gave me in honor of PFC Steven C Tucker. I was so touched. I believe I gave him my Grandmother's St Michael pendant to watch over him in Afganistan. I pray that he was able to go home safely to his family after his tour of duty ended. I asked him to let everyone know that they were not forgotten and they are appreciated.

I don't know why I just found Steven's memorial bracelet yesterday after having it for well over a decade. If his family still reads this post, or his friends, please know he is not forgotten - even by those he has not met. I also pray that the brave soldier that gave me his bracelet safely returned home. Thank you. God bless.

I worked with Steven at the Plant Shed our Jr/Sr year. Always fun to hang around. He was a funny and kind hearted guy. Even after 10 yrs, I recall the positive association I had with him. I think he had that kind of effect on most people he came across. Just a really nice guy. I think about him time to time and how he had so much life left to live. 19 yrs old. Why he had to go so early is a tragedy although valiant cause serving his country. My heart goes out to his family

I had fond memories of learning how to play saxophone with Steven from Mr. Pritchard at HMS. He made Wind Ensemble and I was jealous that I couldn't play bari as well as him! Steven had such a kind heart, this year he would probably be 30. He was one of the few who made band tolerable for someone who was constantly bullied for being one of the few African Americans in band at CHHS. I miss him dearly. His sacrifice is something I'd like to thank his family for, especially his parents, his brothers Mike and Justin. I have prayed for the repose of his soul often, I pray I can make it to Heaven where I know he is with all the angels and saints. May God bless your family as you, Steven intercede on their behalf.

Corporal Steven Tucker, was one of my Soldiers who has not been forgotten by the Raptor Platoon despite almost 8 years has gone by. To this day, I still think about how Steven ran over 10 miles around the FOB for PT on the morning of 21 May 2005 with the rest of the platoon when he didn't have to, as he had just pulled guard duty a few hours previously. His upbeat personality and positive outlook on life impacted this platoon that no words could ever describe or measure. I'm humbled to have known not only an extraordinary Sky Soldier but a great person who meant a lot to so many people.

Steven, you are always in our thoughts and have never been forgotten from the Raptor Platoon.

I knew Steven pretty well. I went to CHHS with him. I was in marching and Jazz band with him. I helped him install electronics in his truck and when he had the RX7. I worked out with him at 24 hour fitness before he left to join the army. I joined the Navy last year. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him and the others we have lost every time I salute the flag just as he did.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Steven, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I knew Steven for only a little while. We met while he was station in Vincenza and I was studying abroad. I'm sure he was a great soldier, but I only knew him as a very kind, thoughtful person. He wanted to take care of people, make sure they were safe, even those he didn't know very well, like myself. It's been a couple years now and I still think about him and it makes me terribly sad.

Prayer for the living and those that have passed………

Oh Great Usen he walks with you now
Oh Great Spirit be with us always and give us strength
Let our prayers be heard, felt and shared
Heal our pain but do not let us forget
The smiles, the laughter, the good times
Let my Family be our strength and
Let those who have gone before us hear our prayers
That they remain by our side always and
That we remember them always
When we feel the wind and see the sun rise
And on the moonlit night when you hear
The silence or the Night Eagle (Owl) calling
And there among the stars and beyond
Let us one day see them and you Great Spirit
Let our faith in you be our strength
Oh Great Spirit be with us always

Mr. and Mrs. Tucker, I didn't know your son but my daughter, Katina (flute), was in the CHHS band with Steven. I remember when I heard of his death and was very saddened. I can't even begin to imagine the pain of losing one's child, especially one so young, so much to live for, and in such a far away land. But I'm sure Steven was doing what he felt was necessary and our country owes him and you both a great debt of gratitude. God bless you and Steven's memory.

Please know that Steven's death still saddens the 173rd, 503rd. My son Derek served with Steven in Afghanistan in '05. He wears a bracelet with "Tuckers" name on it everyday and into battles again this year in Afghanistan. Derek joined the Army in '03 with his best friend Andy. Both of these boys were inseperable high school fiends. Derek & Andy went thru basic together, then got assigned to the 173rd & went to Italy together. In '05 they went to Afghanistan, Andy was in the 508 & Derek in the 503rd. Andy had gotten married and came back to Ft. Stewart to a different Unit, he wanted to be state side. Derek went to Afghanistan this year & Andy went to Iraq. On Sept. 11th, we got the terrible news that Andy had been killed in Iraq. The Army let Derek come back and represent the 173rd & to grieve for his "brother"... this is what they always called each other. At the visitation there were twins brothers,Blake & Grant that had served with Derek & Andy, one in the 503rd, the other in the 508. Blake said, "You know, it's really hard to lose your friend, I lost my roommate while in Afghanistan." I asked if it was "Tucker" by chance? He looked at me so surprised and said, "Yes it was." I thought I would let you know that Steven is still thought of daily and that because of young men like him, I can walk with more humility. Knowing that I live in a safer place because of men like Steve & Andy. God bless your family & hold you tigtht.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Dear Mom and Dad,and all of your beloved Steven's family and friends,

Althought from a different set of circumstances, I too am a lonely mother who lost one of her sons at the age of 24. No one can replace him, as I know you feel also. I never knew the high price of love until I lost Frank, and I guess I thought he would be around forever for me to fret over, to love, to correct, etc. All the things we do as moms. It is an honor to love someone so deeply that their loss changes us forever. It's a scar that I wear with pride, and I know you do,too.

Love and my prayers,

We, like hundreds of thousands of Americans, cannot or will not join the Armed Forces in order to defend our nation from tyranny. Your loved one could and did. We will always thank God for people like him. And we thank you and grieve your loss and our country's.

Dear Family, I do not know any of you personally, but I am a very patriotic American. My ancestors were in past wars. I owe a great debt to all of our servicemen in all the Armed Forces who are currently serving & to those who have given their lives for my freedom. Thank you for Steven (your son, husband, father, brother, uncle) who gave his life. God Bless & keep you all on this Memorial Day holiday.

There are no words to express the sorrow you must be going through at this very difficult time. I just wanted to offer prayers and sympathy to all Steven's family and friends. Your son was a great kid you should be very proud of the wonderful job you did with him. Hopefully some day we'll understand God's plans, until then I hope He will comfort you and help you until you see Steven again.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Tucker and Family,

I was so very, very sorry to hear about Steven's death. Steven ran cross country and track for me at CHHS. He was a wonderful, high spirited young man and a great pleasure be around and work with in the world of running. We, his coaches, and his teammates loved him very much. He was a loving, caring young man that gave his all for the team. There will always be a spot in my heart for Steven. We will miss him dearly. I will always remember his wonderful smile and attitude toward working out for cross country and the band every morning. I thank God for letting our paths cross in life. My life is richer and fuller for having known Steven Tucker. Again, I am so very sorry for your loss. Now he is in Heaven playing in the Jazz Band for us. He certainly served his country well and made us all very proud.

Sincerely,

Maxie Hays
