To Terry's Family - Terry was attached to my Battalion and deployed like the remaining 700 98th Division soldiers to a very tough mission. I met terry a few times but with the hectic activities did not get to know him as a soldier attached to my command which was common for the Army Reserve at the time.
I do know that he served with distinction and was a dedicated soldier. His loss was felt by all that knew him, however briefly. He served his country as only a soldier can... with great pride and humility.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Terrence, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To the family of Terrence Crowe,
I am so so very sorry for you loss. There are no words to express how hard this must be. I wanted to let you know about a memorial I am working on to honor the soldiers from the New York City Area. I am creating a quilt with a panel for each fallen soldier. I am trying to contact the families to invite them to create their loved one's panel. I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

These
are words written in a poem by the friend of a marine that served in
Iraq:

'It takes a heart of courage, a fierce and focused mind. Honor at its' finest, a brotherhodd that binds.

The greatest country on this planet,
dreams and freedom to pursue. The backbone of America, rests on true
heroes like you. ...

We'll keep your memory alive,in our hearts and minds your'll stay. We owe you and your family a debt we can't repay.

As we think of all the courage, pride and hope your memory brings. We never will forget the day your stripes turned into wings.'

I remember your sacrifice. May God give you peace. We are grateful.

My deepest sympathy to Terry's family. The word hero is bantered about too readily at times, but people like Terry deserve it. I saw his photo in the Army Times and immediately had a sinking feeling of remembering his face from 20 years ago. Terry and I attended a couple military schools together, the latter being Infantry Officer Basic. Of the four pictures from that time, Terry was in three out of four, he was good friend, and had a great sense of humor. I will post pictures of Terry shortly. Tony Aliberti, an earlier signer was also a classmate. The world is better for having Terry in it. God bless Terry and his family. If there is anything I can do to help the family please don't hesitate to ask.

With sympathy,

George

I have just learned of the death of LTC Terrence Crowe. As the State Chaplain of the Georgia Sons Of The American Revolution and speaking for our President, George Thurmond and more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia, may I most humbly express the condolences of a grateful Society. LTC Crowe, wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, stood on a wall of freedom for us all. His life and his love of country epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe him ..!! Nor the debt we owe you…!!!

Terry Crowe epitomizes the greatness of the American Soldier. He dedicated his life to strengthening and protecting his country, a mission he accomplished with aplomb. Terry leaves a legacy embodied in his Canisius cadets, the American Soldiers he has led over the years, and the Iraqi Army who will one day succeed in their quest. The U.S. Army and America can be very proud of men like Terry Crowe who have volunteered to serve in the often thankless environs of Iraq. The National Guard has once again proven its worth and the motto, One Army, has become reality. My immense gratitude to my friend Terry Crowe, and all America's soldiers, for their sacrifice and dedication to duty.

Terry and I were classmates at Fort Benning and assinged to our first unit together at A Co. 3/41 INF in Garlstedt Germany. He was also my roommate there as well. Terry was great soldier, leader, and friend. He was truly a great American. I shall miss him dearly.

To the family of this great man.

I learned of your loss two days ago. I send letters and care packages to another soldier on their team. I wanted to know him so I could write words of comfort. I am awed by what and who he was. I am from Western NY and visited wirh my sister on Grand Island so I feel some logistical connection. Having sent support to their team, is more than what some would consider a coincidence. My sister passed away in 1988 at age 39. I do have a sense of loss. My two oldest are the same age as his children.

Even though I did not know him, I thank you for raising the boy to be the man that he became. I thank you for modeling the character that would be willing to sacrifice much and all for those here and abroad. And above all else, I thank you for your gift that passed to this man and passed to those whose lives he touched. God bless you. God bless America. We will never forget our freedom is not free.

COL Crowe and I never met, but his sacrifice moved me so that my spirit prompted me to write my condolences to his family. This man is a true American hero, a leader of leaders. He went when his country called and did not say no or find excuses not to go. As the words are, "no greater love does a man have, than to give his life for a friend." No soldier, foremost the honored dead, should ever be relegated to a lessor status to anyone in this country...ever. God bless you, dear brother in arms, and may you rest in peace.

I knew Terry briefly in the early 90's. He so impressed me as being a man of compassion, integrity and courage. He was completely devoted to his children and family. Anyone who came into contact with him was a better person for knowing him - that's the kind of person he was. I am deeply saddened at his loss and will pray for him and his family that they might gain strength from knowing that he fought with courage and devotion to the ideals of his country. God bless you always, Terry.

George,

I worked with you at Remington Rand in the early sixties. I remember clearly how you loved to talk about your son Terry. I was very saddened when I heard what happened to him. Knowing your great devotion to the National Guard, I was not surprised that he followed in your footsteps with a career of his own in the military. I know that nothing can make up for this loss but you should find some consolation and a great deal of pride with the knowledge that he made the ultimate sacrifice helping others achieve freedom. God bless you and your wife and family.

Four years ago, I recall Major Terrance Crowe contacted me at the Buffalo District Army Corps of Engineers to see if I could help his 8th grade daughter on her science project. I agreed, and she spent some time at our office learning about geology, I believe. Major Crowe called back to thank me and said his daughter's paper got an "A". I had forgotten about this until I returned from a business trip and heard of this tragedy. My sincerest condolences to the family.
