Cpl. Pineda - I still think about you often. Your memory lives on in my heart. I tell my kids about you, I tell people at Boeing about you. What you did the day you died protecting your fellow Marines, is nothing short of amazing. I miss the life you would have had with Ana and your family. Til Valhalla my brother. We got the watch.

Cheese, I remember you from time to time. I remember seeing your first days in the fleet with the machine gun section. I remember that window you broke out of frustration. When I got out I knew the Marines behind me were confident and well to do. I dreaded hearing about 3/8 in fallujah knowing my brothers would fight with all they had. Carlos Pineda you are a great man, tough as nails and a hero. You payed for our freedom and never will I forget. Rest easy brother...rest easy. See you at the gates.

Carlitos, not a day goes by when I don't think of you and all the great times we had together. I wish you were still here because you were the heart and soul of our "family." You may be gone but your memory and heroism will never be forgotten by those who knew and especially by those who loved you.

In two days it will be six years since you have been gone. I'm sure you know that my dad is in his final days of life. I am asking you to do me a favor and help him transition peacefully when his time comes. I miss you Carlos. We had a great time. I wish you and Ana could have met my wife. I love you brother, and miss you dearly.

O my goodness I can't believe another year is approaching that you left me behind. I miss you so much. I may have moved on in life, but I have yet to forget you. There isn't a day that goes by where I seem to think what "if" you were still here. Where would we be? How would life be? I miss you! I love you! :-(

For Cpl Carlos A. Pineda
Written by: Cale “Doc” Diaz

May 2, 2010

I stand before you in white or black
Wearing the brightest white cap
A freshly ironed neckerchief around my neck
It feels like a noose that won’t come loose
Checking into an unknown place
Standing before you trying to plead my case
In the Navy they call me seaman
In the Marine Corps they call me doc
I traded my colors of blue and gold
To the colors of crimson and gold
I bled blue now I bleed green
To you I seem quite mean
Like I have neither heart nor self esteem
To be quite honest I have to be tough
The life that chose me is quite rough
To be on a ship was a dream
One that was never seen
Haze gray and underway
Was never heard
Too loud to hear while flying in a metal bird
Hands like a child
A voice quiet and mild
Dedicated to the cause
Giving his life without a pause
He did it without thought or reason
To think he did it selfishly would be treason
Covered in dust and not in salt
Feeling as all of this our fault
We lost a friend
Our brother till the end
A child just like me

In Memory of Carlos ~ (Debra Estep)

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Carlos, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Cpl,

I went to Boot Camp with you, I don't really remember a lot about those days. I do know everyone in our Platoon would be very upset to know that we lost one of ours. You're sacrifice will never be forgotten. God Bless Brother.

August 6, 2007

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Cheese, you were one of the few there left in wpns plt that actually cared. you did everything to keep those around motivated even when it was hard to stay motivated yourself. i miss you and your "vietnam" and "delta force" stories. i will never forget you, and you will live in on in the songs i sing, i still havent forgotten our deal in haiti, you cant follow through with your side, but you did something far greater than put a name in a book. we all owe our lives to you. Cheese (aka) Fat, Cheese I miss you so much, you where like my best friend. I miss talking to you, I miss all your little adventures you would have, and right away you will call me and tell me that you just busted a mission. I want you to take good care of your self this time ok. I want to see you HAPPY and OK. I do not even know what to write Cheese because it’s hard for me to believe that you are gone. I am like Ana I am still waiting for your phone call and your e-mails. I wrote you a e-mail two days before your accident and you never wrote back. You owe me an e-mail and a phone call. Well actually I did get your last phone call on 6/25/05 it was about 2:30am and we just had gotten home from your moms house and me and Robert where about to go to bed and we herd the phone ring and we did not want to get it because we thought it was a crank call. So Robert went to pick it up and it was no one, it was all static on the phone, so Robert and I looked at each other and we both said it was YOU saying good-bye. But I will see you soon, I know I will but till then I want you to know that I am proud of you and that you where a good friend to Robert, Greg, Cindy and I, Cheese we will never forget you and Thank You for everything you did for us. I miss you so much Cheese. I love you and I will see you soon, oh and save a spot for us up there ok and give a good word up there for us.

Carlitos aka Cheese,

This is your homie Eric. I really don't have the words to express how much I miss you already. We meet six years ago when we became Explorers with the Sheriff's Department. Since that time, we had lots of fun togehter. I still remember the time we walked from Long Beach all the way to Pico Rivera before we finally decided to take a bus. How about the time when you wore green and red socks with blue shorts to the Sheriff's Station? Or how about when we used to get drive around East Los throwing eggs and water ballons at each other? You may have left us to soon but your spirit will never go away. Your always gonna be my friend and my brother. I wished I could just hang out with you one last time. You never had a chance to meet my daughter. She would have loved you. Well, there is really nothing left for me to say except that I love you homie and I'll see ya when I join you in heaven.

Forever Your Carnalito,

What up Cheese,

This is your homie Tony, from East Los. I just wanted to say it was a pleasure meeting somebody like you man. You left us with a lot of good, funny and crazy memories. From the time we met at the sheriff's explorers, up to when we graduated from the academy and went our seperate ways. I never had a chance to go to your wedding and congratulate you, so I'm taking that time to do so. It was crazy, just two weeks ago, I seen your mom and asked her about you. She told me you went back to Iraq. I gave her my cell phone number so she could give it to you, so we could talk and see what was going to happen when you came back. She never again had a chance to talk to you. I haven't seen you or your family in such a long time, and I guess things really do happen for a reason huh, good or bad. Rest in Peace homie and just know you will always be missed, and have a place in our hearts.

Your Homie,

Tony
