I had the honor of riding with many bikers in memory of Holly´s Life. C.M.A. As well as many others. I do not remember the place the ride ended at (by the beach). But I won tickets for free entrance, for four adults, to Lost River Cave, Bowling Green Ky. Hollys dad expressed to me they never expire, so for 20 years I held onto the tickets as well as the memory. This week we were finally able to use them ! I´m am grateful and blessed to have all those memories. Thank you

You are still missed very much by everyone that came in contact with. You will never be forgotten. I can't believe thar it has been 5 years already. Your uncle helped me and my grnaddaughters out with my groceries the other day last Thursday. I was driving my daughter's van which has a magnet on it with my son's info and photo. He looked at it as he opened the hatch and asked if he was my brother. I told he that DJ was actually my son. He said, " I'm sorry... my niece died in Iraq, first women marine from RI." I think he was stunned when I said, " Holly Charette." Since he didn't say anything for a moment I continued with the fact that I went to the post office dedication in Cranston when it was dedicated in your name.
I hope it eases your parents, family's and friends hearts to know your name is remembered. Indeed it is written in the stars. It is whispered by the breezes which refresh us. It is held in many people's hearts, even those of us who never knew you in Life.

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

To the family of LCPL Holly Charette, Her ultimate sacrifice is remembered with prayer for you all on this Veterans' Day. My daughter Lt Rebecca Moore served with Holly in Operation Iraqi Freedom. As she was in Holly's chain of command, losing Holly was a sentinel event in the life of the unit. Rebecca told me that you went to Camp LeJeune to welcome the unit home. I cannot imagine how you could do that. You must have hearts as big as the moon. What a gracious thing to do. I suggested to Rebecca to enter Holly at the Women in the Military Memorial. When Rebecca returned to the USA, we visited Holly's memorial at the museum in Arlington. Rebecca told me that the women Marines were assigned to search the Iraqi women at checkpoints as a way of respecting the Muslim religious customs and dignity. Your daughter died to protect the dignity and freedom of these women. What courage! What honor! May God bless you all. Sincerely, Rebecca's Mother, Elizabeth Fagan

To the Charette family,
I really don't know what to say about Holly. I never really knew her, but we both joined at about the same time. Her picture struck me as familiar and we may have met a time or two before going to bootcamp while in the delayed entry program. I just wanted to send my condolences to your family. Nothing I, or anyone else can say, will divert you from the grief of such a loss. All I can say is that her memory will live on each day in the hearts and minds of those who have chosen to wear the uniform. I will always wear this uniform with pride and never bring discredit to it or anything that Holly stood for. That is my way of honoring her and to ensure that she will never be forgotten.

To the Family of Lance Cpl. Holly A. Charette:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To the family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss her, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by her presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.

To Regina, Ed and Danelle,
Words will never express the love I have for Holly even more that we have met. Who would have known 2 parents of fallen Marines, one in Florida, one in Rhode Island would be forever joined together through our children's sacrifice and connect by Alex. Him being Ron's friend and your daughter's fiance'. Thank you for coming to blistering hot Florida to be a part of our Memorial Day Sunday service and allowing us to honor you. I hope you all seen, how the people in Lakeland, Florida grieved with you and appreciated your sacrifice but most of all honored your daughter. They were truly touched by hearing Holly's story. We were so proud to have you in our home. Sharing our children's lives together will be forever etched in my soul. I felt we have know each other forever. I know our children were around us the entire week. I was so glad Ron's boys were able to finally meet you and us finally meeting face to face. Our talks and our tears we shed I will always hold dear in my heart. I know it was extremely hard for you all to come..not knowing us and anticipating the emotional week, but my desire was for your time here to be a time of healing and a time to celebrate Holly. I hope we were a blessing to you. Thank you for Holly, she will be always in our hearts and her picture will be permantely shown in our home. When we speak of our son's sacrifice to the people we come in contact with, Holly's story will be as well. Thank you Danelle, for being Rae's healing friend. No one has ever been able to share her grief, know her aching for her brother like you.
I know you were Holly's best friend, but sister's is a better description. I believe in my heart that you are a gift from Holly to Rae, and Rae is a gift to you from Ron. It is no accident that you two met. As Rae was to Ron and you are to Holly... you may have never shared the same blood but just the same...you will be forever siblings.
All of you have a second home here in Florida. Anytime you want to get away, we have a place for you.
With all our love, prayers and so much pride,
Aileen and Ronnie Payne
Proud parents of Cpl Ron Payne Jr. KIA-Afghanistan 5-7-04

Lcpl Charette,
Here I sit back at home after our year deployment. I am sorry that you are not here with us. You always made me smile when you would see me and say "DOC you got some mail today." You were always smiling and joking making people feel warm and relaxed even when we were at war. You will be missed but never forgotten. You will be always remembered. God Bless.

I am writing this message for the family of Holly, as a fellow Cranstoniate I extend my deepest condolences. At this time of the year it will be very hard on your family. I do understand because my daughter Nicole is also in the military in Iraq. It could so easily be me in your place right now. It breaks my heart that you and so many families like you have to go through this heartache. At this holiday time please accept my condolences and hope you find some kind of peace.

Hi,
I never knew Holly and only found this by accident. So I'm just a total stranger. To her parents, you suffered a great loss and now have a void that can't be filled. I don't understand war or why this happens in our world. I hope that some good will come of this. I want our troops safe so more good people like Holly don't have to die.

I am Holly's eleven year old half-brother. I never got to see her but I've heard a lot about her. Whenever she died I was sad because I wanted to meet her. We wrote letters back and forth but she never got to get the last one. I'll see my sister in heaven someday.

My daughter Holly was a sweetheart of a girl from the first time I seen her appear in this world. When I held her as a baby she would make my soul calmed and a halo of love was allways around her. When me and her mother went our seperate ways I lost track with Holly (This is something I regrett) but she found me and a we started all over and I thank God for that time he gave me with her. To me she is a hero and I am proud of her and look foward to seeing her in heaven. Thanks to all who have posted here for her as I have seen she was a light in many persons lifes and can see she is missed. Holly your Daddy will love you forever.

My heart goes to Holly's family during these hard times. I will never forget Holly's smile and warm heartedness. I was stationed with her in MOS school in Camp Johnson, NC in the summer of 2002. This world truely needs more people like Holly. This is a loss for America and for the Corps. Holly's legacy, along with all the other brothers and sisters that have payed the ultimate sacrifice, will never be forgoten.

When tomorrow starts without me,
and I'm not there to see,
if the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
the way you did today. While thinking of the many things, we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand and said my place was ready, in heaven far above. That I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye, for allmy life, I'd always thought i didn't want to die.
I had so much to live for, so much left yet to do. It seemed impossible that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad. I thought of all the love we shared, and all the fun we had.
If i could re-live yesterday just even for a while. I'd say good-bye and kiss you and maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized that this could never be. For emptiness and memories would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things, I might miss come tomorrow. I thought of you and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates, I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me, from His great golden throne.
He said, "This is eternity, and all I've promised you." Today your life on earth is past, but here life starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow but today will always last. Since each day's the same way there's no longing for the past.
You have been so faithful, so trusting and so true. Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldn't do.
But you have been forgiven and now at last you're free. So won't you come and take my hand and share my life with me?
So when tomorrow starts withoutme, don't think we're far apart. For everytime you think of me I'm right here in your heart.

dear family:
please allow me to extend my deepest sympathy upon the loss of your holly. no words can replace her loss. i did not know her, but i know she was in harms way. she must have decided to protect her family, and her country. she could have walked the sands of any beautiful beach in the world, but she decided to walk on the sands of iraq in combat boots. little did she know that her footprints became the footprints of an american hero. all of our female troops and male troops decided to face the storm. she was very brave. i pray as she crosses over the river she will rest under the trees of paridise with all other american heros. from: jud malcolm - vietnam - 70-71.
