Donald Paul Charette, age 87, passed away January 12, 2026, in Lebanon, Maine after a period
of failing health. Born on August 30, 1938, in Rochester, NH he was the son of Albert and
Lorette (Maxfield) Charette.
Don grew up on Chestnut Street and lived there with his parents and two sisters until he enrolled
in the Navy at the age of seventeen. He was very proud to have served. He then worked at
Davidson Rubber/Textron for over twenty-five years as a foreman before retiring early. Don
continued to work part time at Lone Oak Ice Cream in Rochester, NH, where he created ice
cream flavors with the banana grapenut being his favorite and he worked as a custodian at the
Holy Rosary Credit Union in Rochester.
Don loved his home on Three Ponds where his children learned to dive off the dock, and he also
loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles with his family and friends. In his later years, he
really enjoyed just sitting outside on the deck watching the boats and birds go by.
Don was predeceased by his parents, and two sisters, Lorraine Malsbury, Rachel Grenier, and a
niece Donna Grenier.
Don is survived by his children, George Charette of Milton, NH, Reginald Charette and his wife
Jean, of New Durham, NH, Patricia Jacques of Rochester, NH, his two grandchildren Jolene
Tobey and Luke Johnson Jr., his three great granddaughters, Violette, Adalyn and Wren.
Calling hours will be Friday, January 23, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Grondin Funeral
Home, 177 N. Main Street in Rochester, NH.
Details for Donald's interment will be announced at a later date.
