Robert Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grondin Funeral Home - Rochester on Feb. 1, 2026.
It is with great sadness that the family of Robert "Bob" T. Johnson, 80, of Rochester, NH, announces his passing on January 29, 2026 while holding his cherished wife's hand.

Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jennifer; his children, Mandy (Jason) Barstow, and his grandchild Zade; Adam (Stacy) Podolec and grandchildren Meredith and Owen; Stephanie (William) Jones and grandchildren Jennifer, Josie, Leevi, Connor, Hunter, Lincoln and Siena; Robert Johnson, and Diane Landrio and his grandchildren Dawn and Brett; and 8 great grandchildren; his sister Kathleen Fenimore and brother Geoerge (Patricia) Johnson. He is predeceased by his grandson Zachary Colbroth; and his parents Mary (O'Krepka) and Elmer Johnson.

Bob was born April 27, 1945 in Staten Island, New York. He graduated from McKee High School in Staten Island, NY. He enlisted in the army and was a proud veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He worked for the New York Transit Authority before moving to the New England area where he retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a crane inspector.

Bob loved life and held many positions; the most important was husband, father and grandfather. He was a hot air balloon chaser for Natural High Campground, a little league coach, community theatre actor and stage crew member, stage manager for his daughter's dance studio, where he also danced. Bob's love of cars led him into becoming a mechanic. He was a proud member of the Rochester American Legion Post 7 family where he was a legionnaire, a son of the American Legion and a legion rider. He held positions in all three houses.

Services will be held at Grondin Funeral Home, 177 North Main Street, Rochester, NH, on February 5, 2026. Visitation will be held from 10-11am, service to follow at 11am. A private graveside service will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rochester American Legion Post 7 Juniors, which Bob loved to support, to:
