Obituary For Catherine Louise Seggio

Catherine Louise Seggio

August 23, 1927 – November 20, 2025

Catherine Louise Seggio (Milza), 98, a native Staten Islander, died peacefully in her Dongan Hills home on November 20, 2025 after a short illness.

Born in Concord to Paul and Louise Milza, she was a graduate of McKee High School. She worked for several years as a sales assistant at the Henri Bendel department store in Manhattan, where her clients included Helen Keller, the famous author and disability rights advocate.

She married Joseph J. Seggio in 1952, and they lived in Dongan Hills with their three children, Jane, Joseph and Philip. Mrs. Seggio was an active parishioner at St. Ann's R.C. Church, and was a member of the St. Ann's Senior Citizen Club.

She was well-known throughout her family and wide circle of friends for being an expert baker, and she would bake cookies and cakes to mark every occasion. For many years her husband and sons would spend days during the holiday season delivering plates of assorted cookies baked by Mrs. Seggio, and many family members proudly own a crocheted blanket handmade by her in specially-chosen colors.

Her husband, Joseph J. Seggio, died in 1993.

She is survived by her children, Joseph P. Seggio (Barbara), Philip P. Seggio (Terri) and Jane L. Barbini (Edward); two brothers, Edward Milza and Ernest Milza; her sister-in-law, JoAnn Milza; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
