Rose Sgarlato, 94, of Staten Island, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025 at home surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Brooklyn NY to Italian immigrants Alfonso Albano and Ramona Marullo Albano, Rose lived a life filled with love, laughter and deep devotion to family. She married the love of her life and best friend, Joseph Sgarlato and shared 67 beautiful years together. Their partnership in life and business was an inspiration to all who knew them. For five decades, Rose and Joseph co-owned A.A. Reliable Television and later The Hidden Cottage coffee shop where Rose's kindness and humor made everyone feel at home. Rose will be remembered for her sparkling eyes, quick wit and generous heart. She loved to dance, sing and celebrate every moment surrounded by the people she loved. She is survived by her children and their spouses - Steven Sgarlato and his wife Vicky Sgarlato, Lorraine Sgarlato and her husband Marcello Sgarlato, Roseanne Caccavale and the late Frank Caccavale who was her dear friend and confidant in laughter. She is also survived by her sisters Josephine Gagliotto and Maryann Albano and preceded in death by her beloved sisters Jeanne Albano Baranello, Yolanda Albano Mazza and her beloved husband Joseph Sgarlato.
Rose is also survived by her ten grandchildren - Jenna, Danielle, Craig, Stefanie, Samantha, Christina, Katherine, Nicole, Deanna and Alyssa - and her ten great grandchildren - Emmy, Ella, Josephine, Luciana, Westley, Jackson, Ava, Rosalie, Giovanni and Christopher - all of whom brought endless pride and joy to her life.
Rose's legacy of love, humor and compassion will live on in all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
