Matthew Thomas Carty, age 38, of Rochester, passed away on January 11, 2026 at his home.
He was born in Danvers, MA on September 9, 1987, beloved son of Bruce R. Carty and Susan G. (Blanton) VanSickle, as well as beloved stepson of Erika Carty. He attended Lawrence Elementary school, before moving to Rochester. In Rochester, he attended Rochester Middle school, and graduated from Spaulding High School, class of 2006.
Following high school, he went for his CDL license and was a long-distance truck driver for several years. He has been long time employee of Waste Management where he was a very well-regarded member of the team.
Matt enjoyed gaming and was especially fond of Dungeons & Dragons, he often played the role of Dungeon Master in the Saturday adventure league at Jetpack comics. He was also a gun enthusiast and a member of the White Birch Armory where he would enjoy target practice on the range.
Besides his parents, Bruce & Erika Carty of Rochester, he is survived by his two sisters, Nicolle Donovan and her husband, Timothy of Dover, Jessica Carty and her Fiancé, Chris of Milford; two stepbrothers, Patrick Reagan of East Kingston, and Jonathan Reagan of Rochester; a nephew, Saske Douglas of Dover; three nieces, Sonja Douglas of Dover, Alyssa Mensh of Goffstown. And Mackenzie Reagan of East Kingston.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 24th, at 1 PM in the function hall of American Legion Post 7, 188 Eastern Ave, Rochester NH. We invite all Matt's friends to come and share a memory, a laugh and support. Light refreshments will be served, and a cash bar will be available.
In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
