Sonny Moschello, 90 of Staten Island, New York passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, NY.

Sonny was born on Saturday, June 22, 1935 in Staten Island. He was named after his paternal grandfather, but he was affectionately called Sonny Boy by his family and everyone who knew him throughout his life.

He was the son of the late Michael Moschello and the late Angelina (Pape) Moschello. He attended McKee High School, played football with the 47 Club in New Brighton, and served in the Army. During his service, he was based at Fort Riley in Kansas, in the HQ & Log Co, 16th Infantry. After returning home from his military service, he became a Longshoreman and had a career that spanned more than 50 years, retiring in his late 70s.

Sonny enjoyed watching and attending games for the NY Giants, the NY Rangers, and the NY Mets. He had a passion for collecting Lionel trains and Hess trucks. He particularly cherished taking his family to Disney World multiple times and spending summers in Wildwood, NJ, for over 40 years. Additionally, he participated in several bowling teams over the course of his life.

He was a devoted father and grandfather who always tried to give his children everything they wanted and lovingly doted on his grandchildren. He was always eager to play and enjoy good times, and he had a wonderful way of making them laugh with his humorous one-liners, which have become well-known within his family. He was truly loved by all and will be tremendously missed.

Sonny was the devoted husband of 60 years to his late wife Maryann, loving father to Lisa Trimblett (Michael), Robert (Dena), Linda Lancetti. Cherished grandfather to Samantha, Sabrina, Isabella, Nicholas, Max and Mia.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. Cremation will be private.
