Carla Chase, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully at the age of 69 on September 22, 2025, in New Castle, Delaware. Born on November 22, 1955, in
Brooklyn, New York, Carla's life was a tapestry of passion, creativity, and devotion, woven with the rich threads of family, faith, and craft
A lifelong Christian, Carla's faith was her compass, guiding her through life's challenges with grace and fortitude. She was the heart of her family, a loving wife to her husband Milton Chase. A nurturing mother to Tami Smith and Robert Chase. Her warmth and generosity extended to her siblings, Rose Holbrook and Wanda Shelton, and the bonds she shared with her sisters-in-law Diahann McNeil, Patricia Johnson, Alice Johnson, and Doretha Chase, as well as her brothers-in-law Wayne Mobley, Alfred Chase, and Dennis Chase, were unbreakable.
Carla's nieces and nephews, Ely, Jr., Rasheen, Harold, Jr., Michael, Shawn, Tyrone, Tameka, Roselle, Tawanna, and Nicola, will forever treasure the joy and wisdom she imparted. She was a mentor and a role model, instilling in them the values of love, compassion, and resilience.
A proud alumna of McKee High School, Carla's passion for dressmaking blossomed into a lifelong hobby. Her hands were rarely still, as she channeled her creativity into every stitch, knit, and crochet. Carla's remarkable talent as a seamstress was only matched by her eagerness to share her skills with others. Her creations were not mere garments; they were expressions of her caring soul, enveloping loved ones in the warmth of her affection. Carla worked tirelessly at South Beach Psychiatric Center until her retirement.
Carla's life was a testament to the power of giving without expectation of return. Her selfless nature was evident in every act of kindness, every meal shared, and every comforting word. She was a pillar of her community, where her compassionate spirit touched the lives of many.
As we bid farewell to Carla, we are reminded of the love she so freely gave and the lives she so profoundly touched. Her legacy will live on in the memories we cherish and the stories we share. Her passion, her loving heart, and her selfless devotion will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Carla's journey on earth has come to a close, but the impact of her life's work will endure. In the quiet moments, we will find her in the softness of a knitted blanket, the elegance of a well-tailored dress, and the gentle strength that defined her being. Though she has left our physical world, her spirit remains a guiding light, now and forever.
We celebrate Carla Chase, a remarkable woman whose life was a beautiful portrait of love in action. As we honor her memory, we take solace in knowing that she has found peace after her courageous battle with cancer. Carla's story does not end here; it continues in the hearts of those she loved and in the beauty she brought into this world.
