I'm lighting this candle for my brother, because I know how much you touched his life. He still has a hard time talking about losing you hours/days before you were supposed to return to your family. He tells me he remains in awe of who you were and that your character was beyond reproach. Though he wasn't able to attend your funeral, he has visited your grave in Arlington several times. He struggles with closure, as I know so many do. God holds you now, and I pray that you'll be there to greet all those that love and miss you as their times come to travel home.
Thank you, Marcus. We all hope to carry on your legacy as honorably as we are able in our own lives. Your life blessed us all, whether we knew you personally or not.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Muralles Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

Marcus,
I had the pleasure and honor to tell my 4 year old why the street her grandma lives on is named SFC. Muralles DR. She now understand that a great man gave his life along with many other men and women for her rights. She told me Daddy that is sad but I will thank him when Jesus takes me to heaven.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Marcus, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !
Eternal rest grant unto Marcus O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

My memories of Mark are mostly of the little boy. He was truly sweet and had a smile you just couldnt help but share. In fact I dont ever remembering seeing him when he wasnt smiling! He loved his family and it showed. Thats not hard to understand considering the family Mark was raised in. When visiting his mother or father, they always made you feel like you were part of their family, never a visitor.Mark was a hero to his family long before he was a hero to the nation. My heart breaks for the loss his loved ones suffer through. I hope time eases your pain and the knowledge that you will be with Mark again gives you peace! I love you all!

Hello Hijo mio, I miss you everyday that passes by. I think of you every day from the time God gave you to me, to the day He took you from me. I am so proud of you. Your last phone call to me, three days before you left with your friends, to go to heaven, you told me about all your dreams for your children. I remember you laughing with me, you called me twice that day. It was a special time we shared. Even though, I hurt so much, I know that I will see you again, and this time, you won't be able to tell me, " no rank mommy".

Marcus, I like writing about you every now and then, I guess it's my way of coping with it. They say a life is measured by the legacy you leave behind - like Cindy said below, you have touched so many lives in your short time here! The fondness with which people speak and write of you is the measure of your wonderful life!
You leave us all behind and we're sad because we miss you, but we know you wouldn't want us to suffer. You're looking out for us, and I feel it with each day that everyone gets stronger.
Carlos and I will be sure we take care of your family always...till then my friend...have fun. I hope there's no algebra in heaven! =)
We love you!

Diana and all the family,
As a father of three boys serving in the Army I feel your pain and your pride all in one big breath. The loss of a loved one no matter what happend to cause is always hard. the void it leaves in out hearts takes along time to heal.
But let it known that even though I never met him, or even heard about him until yesterday, I also feel the pain. But I also know that hi is well and sitting at the right hand of God and he looking after you all. Thank you for sharing your "husband", "son",and "uncle" with the rest of us. God Bless you all

Brother,
It's your sister. I'm missing you terribly! I want you to know how much I love you and miss you! We were suppose to see each other sometime this year after your tour. God had other plans. I wanted you to see how big the kids are, they've grown so much. Andrew reminds me of you. The kids miss you. Michael and I were going to see if you could go with us to Myrtle Beach...All of our plans now have changed. I cry every day for you, I feel so empty. I'm trying to be strong like you asked me but it's hard. We're all doing as best can be expected. I hope you can hear all of us when we pray...we talk to you also. We are here for Diana and the kids, don't worry. I call Mommy and Daddy everyday. They're having a hard time but with God's help we'll all somehow manage. I am so proud of you...always have been. There's so much you didn't tell us about things that you've accomplished but I'm not surprised because you always wanted to do your best and also loved what you did. You are the best brother anyone could ever have. Not only my little brother but my best friend. I'll miss your phone calls and hearing that contagious laugh of yours. Your friends miss you a great deal too. You should see how many people you have touched, it's amazing . I love you hermanito, please meet us when it's our time...I can't wait to see you again. In the meantime know how special you are to us and how much we adore you! Te amo, tu hermanita -Cindy

Marcus, I am going to miss seeing you walk into my office with that smile on your face always asking my opinion on things you already knew the answer for. You just wanted to here me say that you were "all over it." The medical kits you worked on were not only combat functional but it looked good too. That was important to Marcus. You always made sure everything was perfect and then you checked it again just to make sure. We worked with great attention to detail especially putting your PA packet together. I know you would have been an outstanding PA because you were an outstanding soldier. Your dedication and selfless service was very rare, you gave it all. You are my hero. I know God has other plans for you. I love you brother and I will miss you. I can tell you this, you still live with us in our hearts and you will never be forgotten. When I close my eyes, I can still see your face and smile. Take care mijo, TFBB.

Marcus is my best friend and like a brother (an older brother). I say IS because I know he is still with us all, looking out for each and everyone of us. I am very sad however that I don't get to see him, and I'm still having a difficult time with his absence. Though I know with time, all wounds heal. I am honored to have had the opportunity to get to know his family, I hope to always be close to you all. You are all in my thoughts. Diana, anything you need, you know that I will always be there.
Marcus, I miss you, and I hope you're still running up in heaven, because when I see you again, we'll go for a run to catch-up on things. Good night brother.

Maureen and I wanted to extend our deepest sympathies to the Muralles family on their loss. Sgt. Muralles, among others, was killed in the helicopter crash brought down by enemy fire while trying to come to the rescue of our son, Lt. Michael P. Murphy and his small SEAL team in the mountains of Kunar province, Afghanistan. We share your grief over the loss of a loved one and are forever grateful that Michael was surrounded by such great and loyal friends who were willing to lay down their lives for each other, GOD and country. These men were true blue "American Heros" and will never be forgotten in our hearts, minds or prayers. We salute the sacrifice of Sgt. Marcus Muralles and his Teammates in the 160th Special Operations in their attempt to come to the aid of our Mike and his men. You are all true American heros.
As Abraham Lincoln once wrote " in the solemn pride that must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom." These are men who will live on in the memories of those who follow in the fight for freedom and justice. Know that you are in our hearts and prayers.
