Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Pellegrini Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

I can't believe it has been over five years. I spent a week recovering that scene. Our Engineers were on duty as the Quick Reaction Force just before SPC Pellegrini's team took over. Jerry,
I've missed you during many holidays but today is the toughes. If you were here we could celebrate together but since you're not and because of the way you were taken from us this day is for you. Memorial Day, a day to honor all of the men and women that have given the ultimate sacrifice for us. My prayer for today is that a child learn the true meaning of this day and the importance of it. It will be our children that will grow and continue telling their children so our Heroes are never forgotten.
I was asked by two of my seventh graders to help them with a language arts project. One of the things they wanted to know was, what one thing in your life changed you the most. I told them about you, how you lived your life, how you followed your dreams, and how you made those dreams a reality. They know about the lives you touched and now you've touched two more.
I love you and miss you every day.
You will forever be my little brother, my Hero.

I had another chance to talk about you to a reporter. He is doing a story about the war and wanted to know if I thought our soldiers were being forgotten. I could be very honest and told him no. I told him about the kids at school that I had the chance to share your story with and how they have been sending cards and goodie bags over seas. I promised you and will continue to share your story with anyone that will listen. My hope is that it will help these kids understand what you and all of the soldiers did/do for us. To listen to the National Anthem and say the Pledge of Aligence with a new understanding of what this means.
Jerry you are my hero and my strength. I miss you every second of every day. My life will never be the same but I will make good things happen with what I've been through because of my loss.

I was watching the news a couple years ago and I saw your picture pop up on the news and I said to my husband I Know him that was Jerry. I never knew you as Gennaro. I knew you as my friend the skinny kid who always tried to be better than me swimming and diving. I didn't want to believe it was you that I saw. I know we probably would never see each other again if it wasn't you but I put it in back of my head until I read in the paper Edith. I knew. I remembered. Im so sorry. It hit me then. Im sorry it took so long. I want you and your family to know that even know I didn't know you as the man you were that you are part of my memmories and my childhood. I couldn't wait for yous guys to come down to the shore. I am so very sorry for your losses. I miss you all. My childhood was filled with people and friends who came from out of town and Jerry was one that I always looked forward in seeing. Kim and Dana I have a picture of the both of you and I'll never forget you both. I have so much inside to say and I know you have been through so much in the past couple of years but I just want you to know what a big part of my life was being friends with your brother and your family. Your mom was a great person and I am so sorry for your loss. Jerry Sr I did not know you all moved down here if there is anything I can do for any of you please call. Look me up. The "Dip" from the Royal Sands. My mom "Sis" from the Royal Sands sends her sympathy. Please if Dana is reading this I would love to hear from you. Please call. P.S. Jerry did improve on his swimming and diving and showed me up the last time I saw him doing a flip and a half which I never tried. But I let him have that.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Gennaro, but I am remembering both his

He is my hero. !
Thank you to Gennaro Sr. for your

Eternal rest grant unto Gennaro, O Lord,

May Gennaro rest in peace. May his soul

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Hey Little Brother,
Today is Veterans Day and I'm off to do another flag updating at Prospect Hill. This will be a little more special today because we will be reading off all 204 PA soldiers names that have given the ultimate sacriface. It will be harder today because I will place your flag after your name is read. I miss you and I promise to keep telling people about you and how special you were in life and now in death. I share your story with anyone that will listen. Some people may forget your name but they will remember the stories. I love you and miss you with all my heart. Keep smiling down on us and please always be close.

I just wanted to say hello. You have been in my thoughts and on my mind a lot lately. I can not believe it's more then two years that you were taken from us and the pain is still overwhelming. I wish you were here I miss you. My Brother My Hero, I love you.
August 19, 2007
There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Gerry, 2 years have passed by already. A lot of cops have either worked for me or with me and you always remember something about that person. I remember that we have a large fight at the club on Delaware Ave and we called for an assist. We were fighting our butts off and it seamed like within a minute you pulled up in 2615 car. It was like an angel was sent there to help us. I remember looking over and seeing you, stick in hand battling in the crowd to help us out. You looked like St. Michael with staff in hand comming to save us. I still remember after arrest were made and people transported to the 26th district, that you came over to me and said boy sarge that was fun. At that moment I knew that I wanted you to work with me on the Task Force and I asked you. I remember you saying that you were being deployed and that when you got back that indeed that you would join my team, but don't forget sarge that I have to train for my boxing. As of that day you were part of the team. I know that as I'm typeing this you're looking over me saying, come on sarge stop it. Gerry until we meet again and share stories, save a place up there next to you for me.

It is August now once again man. I just got word today the Big Billy passed away in June. Two great guys I grew up with in two years. No one can ever thank you enough for how you protected us and our way of life. I appreciate everyday more now. I just left a post at Bill's guestbook and wanted to come by here. Whenever I wear my stickball T-shirt people ask and I brag about a great soldier and man that I called a friend. I am submitting the photo I carried around last year, I'm not sure if your family has this one. Until we can get a game of whiffleball or football in once again, peace brother.

I had the extreme pleasure of driving your family in a limo to your plaque dedication at the 26th District. Knowing You, your looking down on all of us with that smile on your face. Till me meet again.

Jerry,
You were crying with me this morning as I sat near the flags we've been putting up for all of our fallen Heroes from Iraq. Today is a day of remembrance for all of our soldiers that have given the ultimate sacrifice from this current war we fight today and all of the wars we have fought in the past.
I make a promise to you that I will continue to remind people what this day is about and I can only hope that Americans will never forget.
I love you and miss you with all of my heart. God Bless You

Jerry,
Memorial Day is fast approaching and I'm trying to remind people of the importance of this day. I'm hoping to reach the kids at school so they will go home and remind their parents and maybe talk about it.
I wish you were here to call me today. I miss hearing your voice and seeing your smile. I could really use a bear hug little brother.
Love ya,
Gumersindo Vidot

you gave us your ultimate Gerry. A man that lies his life for another is special to God. You fearlessly protected us from the bad guys in the streets of Philly, and if that was not enough, you lay down your life so we Americans can continue with ours. I would, and many would never forget this unselfish ultimate act.
As the Rep for The Retired Boxers Foundation in Philadelphia I will keep your honor alive.
I have posted your information on our blog so all that visit us can see what great lost we suffered.
I had the honor of meeting you on earth when you visited my shop, and I will see you again in heaven to thank you one more time.
May our Gracious, and merciful Lord look over your family on earth as he takes care of you in heaven,
Gumersindo Vidot Jr.

Jerry was such a memorable part of my youth in Northwood. Hanging out at Chevy's, sitting on my front porch, thanking him for the red roses he sent to my door. His eyes were memorizing, his smile was infectious. He was goofy and hyper and a great friend. I am so proud of the man he grew up to be and so devastated that his life was cut short just as he was about to live his dreams.
Since hearing of Jerry's death, my family and I have laughed at wonderful memories we were lucky enough to share with him. I am sorry I never got to see him in a policeman uniform in person - I'm sure tears would have come to my eyes. He made it!
Your loss as a family is unimaginable and my heart aches for you. His memory will live on in those that knew and loved him and those they share his stories with. I have already shared stories of Jerry, my hometown hero, with my son who has gone with me to see his image on Lehigh Avenue. He will know him through me as will many other children of Jerry's friends and he won't be forgotten.
