I don't know you but I recently was in Arlington cemetery on Memorial Day where I received a necklace in remembrance of all you sacrificed. I wanted to leave a message in hopes that it reaches your family to let them know how grateful I am for your service and your sacrifice has not gone unnoticed. My brother served two tours in Iraq during the war and I thank God everyday that he is still with us. I can not imagine the pain of family and friends and wish them all of the best in life.

Its been a while since anyone has written, I know you watch over us and everyone and I just miss you, I was really young when you died... And knowing that I still have memories of you. Like when we would go to the park and you would squeeze my hand real hard and tell me to play nice with the other kids, or that you loved my mom... I still remember how sad she was after it happened, she's still not really the same without you. I miss you...

Happy birthday! I think of you often, especially here at Penn State Altoona with all the ROTC kids. They walk around campus wearing a uniform just like yours. It's crazy to think its been 8 years since you've been gone because it feels like yesterday that I watched you get on that airplane. Mr and Mrs Straub, I met your son and he was a wonderful human being. I have a hard time thinking about his death and the death of all we have lost, we briefly became friends while working at Ft Indiantown Gap, PA with another person, I went and came back, she went and came back and he went but didnt and I am so sorry. I think we all knew we would go but for that time, we enjoyed eachothers company and had some fun to distract us from that pending situation. Because of the outpouring of love and rememberance I have seen as I checked in over the years, I'm not sure there would have been so much for me, I can genuinely say I wish I could have taken his place to ease your pain. I wanted to know if you would like a photograph I have of him, and I didnt want to just send it unexpectedly in the mail. I can check back in this forum to see if you respond.

This past month I have been thinking about you all the time. At my school, they had a memorial service it took place on May 28, 2010. Your name was hung up on The Wall of Honor. For brave soldiers who gave their lives to fight for our country. The memorial was very nice, and brought back many memories of you. The most coincidental moment of it all is Nate Detample graduated from both my middle school and high school; he was also mentioned at the memorial service. I still can't get over the fact that your not here, but you will always be remembered as a hero.
