Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Joshua D. Snyder US Marine Corporal. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

I never met you and probably would never have met you but that didn't stop you from bravely, selflessly, honorably fighting for the freedom that many Americans take advantage of. I wish I could have shaken your hand and expressed my gratitude and my appreciation for your sacrifice. Know that you are a true hero in my eyes. All my prayers for you and your family.

Unfortunately, I never had a chance to meet Marine Cpl Joshua Snyder, but last Friday, November 30, 2012 he was an inspiration to a group of us who do Crossfit at 5:15am. The gentleman who runs our group is a former Marine and every Friday we honor a Wounded Warrior for our workout of the day (WOD). The thing about Friday is it's by far our hardest workout and our leader knows we all need a little inspiration and we were driven by the spirit of Josh. Attached is a picture of the workout we did in honor of Josh and all he did for our families and country.
On behalf of the group I want to thank Marine Cpl Joshua Snyder for keeping our families safe and we all are saddened by his passing. The group wanted to make sure Josh and his family both know that he was honored in Louisville, Ky. and that his spirit lives on continuing to inspire others.

I was there this day 4 years ago. I was on the QRF squad (quick reaction force) that got the call. We looked every where for about 16 hrs strait for those responsible. Josh was my team leader before our deployment. I was moved into a different platoon. To His family, I am truly sorry for your loss, and I wish we all had more time with him. He means as much to me now as he ever did. We all miss you Josh. Guard the streets in Heaven, I will join you in time.

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

To Josh, Family, Friends, All.
I just learned today that we had lost Josh. My heart broke. I worked with Josh for several years during his work study program through high school at the local fly-fishing shop in Monkton, MD., where we became friends.
We spoke last when Josh was on leave about a year or so ago. He called out of the blue in hopes that we could catch up and do some fishing the next time he was back home. I ,of course, told him I looked forward to it, and to call as soon as he returned. I would have love to have had the chance.
I remember Josh as a fun loving, ambitious high school boy who upon our last conversation had grown into a well spoken ,proud man and marine.
My thoughts and prayer are with all of you who loved and cared for Josh. I will surely never forget him and the sacrifice he made for all of us.
Josh, we'll meet again soon and get that fishing trip in. God Bless You.

I am the Mom of a Marine and I sat with Josh when he was home on leave in his first year. We were at a soccer game at Hereford Senior. He is just a normal, loving kid, doing a mans job. It hurt me greatly to know that he was killed, because it could have been my son instead. To his parents, we love him very much, and we can speak up to say that we are very proud of him. Your son was fun, laughs, and a compassion for humankind. I salute you, his family, and can feel your pain. Thank-you for being such good parents. Keep praying, a Marine Mom

To Josh's family and friends:
It has been five long months since josh last stepped foot on this earth, but it feels like forever. Actually one day without an amazing person like josh feels like an eternity. There is no way to bring him back but only to live by his example. He was a very loving and caring person. He never abandoned his beliefs in order to make an impression or to make himself look like someone other then who he was and still is. For instance it was Josh's decision to go into the military to make a better world for you and I. In other words...he died doing what he thought was the right thing to do and what he believed in. I think you all can agree that we would have never changed him for the world. I remember a couple years ago, when josh was about 16, he took hours and hours out of his time in order to teach my sister and I how to slide for softball. As a teenager he could have been out doing any number of things but instead he decided to help a friend in need. We can all learn from Josh he was always there to lend a helping hand and to stick up for what he believed in...I love you Josh with all my heart, help me to also make the correct decisions with my life...Love, your "little sisters"...Lauren and Amy P.S. mom loves you!!!

Dear Snyder family and friends,
Although Josh was 2 years older than I at Hereford, we became close through mutual friends. When he called me the week before he left for Iraq, it was wonderful to hear his voice. I will remember that voice for the rest of my life. One of honor, strength and loyalty. The memories we have shared echo through my head and I will never forget them. I wish I could be at the services for Josh but because of the ending school semester I cannot attend. It hurts that I cannot come and share the moment with those who were close with him, but I believe I will be visiting him soon at Arlington this winter. My heart goes out to all who lost Josh, but as others have noted, he would not have wanted to do anything else. I am grateful for the crazy times we had and Josh is forever in my heart. I miss him greatly.

Josh was a good person who did what he had to do for his country. Josh and I were very close my junior year of high school. During the winter Josh could not keep his "monster truck" running in the school parking lot so he would always jump into my car to keep warm. We had some good memories, I just wish our friendship would have never faded away. My heart and prayers go out to his loved ones and our friends that we shared throughout our life. You will be missed Josh, thank you for the great memories. It has been hard for our town these past two months, losing two brave men who were so young. Lance Cpl. Norman Anderson and Cpl. Josh Snyder are true heroes and they did it together

Josh was like another member of my family, he would always come over to the Turnbaugh house for our cook-outs. Josh would also show up with the infamous bottle of Apple Jack, which my family has come to love. Every time I saw Josh he had the biggest smile on his face and he cared so much for his family, friends and his country. He is the second memeber of our graduating class to pass away during this war. But I know in my heart that Josh wouldn't have wanted it any other way. He was a true hero and I am so proud and honored to have known him. All my prayers go out to his family. Thank you Josh for everything you have given to your country, you will be greatly missed.

Dear family and friends of Josh Snyder. Our son served with Josh both in Afghanistan and also in Iraq, as a Navy Corpsman in his company. Derek called home and told us of losing Josh. He said he and Josh were close friends and losing him was very hard. We have prayed for your family and will continue to do. Derek will never forget Josh or the sacrifice he made. May the Lord bless you all.

I did not know your son, and from what I have read it was my loss. My friend a young marine is serving with 2/6 in Iraq. He called me Sunday and gave me the news. As a former Marine I find myself feeling helpless when I receive news of good men like Josh, being taken from us.
I am a brand new father of a beautiful boy named Anthony. When he is older and asks me about these days we lived in. I will recall Josh's name. I will tell him that I was greatful for this young man, because of his sacrifice, and yours. That he is living in peace because Josh and and others like him made peace possible through their actions.
I know these words will not comfort you, I pray In Gods name that his love surrounds you, as does this greatful American.
Thankyou,

To family and friends of Josh:
It is truly hard in times such as these to understand how a person like Josh could be taken from us. He just had so much spirit and life in him. He took on life with such a great outlook and I admire him for that. I met Josh through my boyfriend Mike Hichew. They had grone up together and were close, almost like brothers. In the Four and a half years that I knew Josh there wasnt a single day that went by were I didnt see how selfless and reliable he was to his friends and family. If you needed him he was there in the drop of a hat. I was sceptical when he metioned he was going into the marines; but on the day he graduated from boot camp in NC I knew that this was what he was destined to do. I will miss all of the parties, hot tubbing and just hanging out but his memory will live on in our hearts and minds for the rest of our lives. I am deeply sorry for our loss and know that he will always be with us.

Dear Doris, Brian and Family and friends,
Words cannot express how sorry i am for your loss. I met Josh in high school when we were both working at Wal Mart. He alway had his special way of making my day and making me laugh. My favorite memory of Josh is when we were kicked out of the store, while working, for horseplaying. I will never forget that day! He is and will always be special to me, and i will never forget him. He was the sort of person who would go out of his way to help others and he did just that by becoming a Marine. I remember how proud and excited he was to join. He loved his job and he did it will. I am so proud of him and so lucky to have a friend like him. He is a HERO! I will always keep a special place for him in my heart!
Love,
Anna
