i know how you feel my brother lost his friend copral mike A purcel just last year he was only 19 yrs old. he left to go to iraq a day after his birthday he turned 20 this year. but mike was a good kid. his sister just got married and mike was the honory best man which is great well love you mike and rest in peace lex nelson

I am a couple years to late, but recently found out about Lex's passing when I was trying to find my classmates in the process of planning our 5 yr reunion. I am saddened at the thought of Lex not being at our reunion. He will be greatly missed, but it is evident that he was needed elsewhere.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

I am Deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Spc. Lex S. Nelson, one year ago today.
The price paid by Lex and his family, will Never Be Forgotten.
May Lex rest safely in the Loving Care of God and may the Peace of the Lord continue to be with the Nelson family.

I cant explain the pain I felt when I saw your name in the paper. Dear Nelson Family,
I was a student for Mr. Nelson for 2 years in G.P.J.H. (science and biology). I went to school with Max. Though I was a pain in the butt then, I have grown up alot and have gained such great respect for Mr. Nelson. My father also is serving in Iraq, so I read the current events on regular basis. When I saw and read about your loss, my heart ached for your family. It takes a nobel and brave man to stand for freedom. It takes a hero to die for freedom. Lex was always fun to be around and always brought out some laughs in us all when we were in AIT. I wasnt in his basic, but he will be remembered as from what I knew of in AIT. I am sorry for the loss and I am saddened to know of the loss to the Army as well.

it was a honor to serve with nelson, he was laid back and honest. he at first kept to be a outcast in the section but soon grew to become one of the boys, a family member with us. he knew he was accepted for who he was, and will be greatly missed. my condolences go out to his family.

Lex was the little brother that you always loved and worried about. When he joined the Army I worried until I saw how much he loved being a part of something greater. We are all devastated and miss him, but know that he is the true hero of our family.

I am the older brother of Spc. Lex S Nelson. I sit here now, in this moment the proudest borther i know. I can recall the simple moments that made him who he was, and the struggles that helped him along the way. He left to Iraq as a young man, wandering in his own little way, and came back last June a proud sloider. I was little upset with myself for not thinking about him as often as I should have. I purchased a Desert Camo hat and have worn it almost everyday to remind me of my brother the solider. I have thought about him everyday since, and many more times since learning of his passing. I miss him and am so proud of him. As I read this I am comforted to learn that he is not only my hero, but many others as well. Thank you to all who have kept my family in your hearts and in your preyers. He has fallen, but has risen in glory to be with those who have gone before him.

I want to say I"m really sorry about your loss. I grew up with Lex all through grade school until graduation. I wasn't great friends with him but he was always so nice to everyone. I remember when back in grade school when his mother died and how that effected me. I never knew stuff like that could happen at such a young age. My deepest condolences go to Nelson’s family; we too share in your grief as we to have lost a brother in Lex. It is an honor to have served with him. We could always count on Lex for a reason to smile, and for his most honest opinion on any subject. He always called it just as he seen it.
