Charles Leroy Nelson Jr.

Charles Leroy Nelson Jr., 71, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 26, 2026. Born on October 13, 1954, in New Castle, he was the son of Charles Nelson and Pauline Barnhouse.

Charles was a lifelong resident of New Castle and a proud member of the community. He dedicated many years of his life working as a tow truck driver for McDaniels Towing - a job that was more than just work to him. It was a part of who he was. He took pride in helping others when they needed it most and was known for his strong work ethic, determination, and willingness to show up no matter the hour. He had a passion for cars and racetracks, was a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and enjoyed spending time fishing. Whether talking about engines, cheering on the Steelers, or casting a line, he found joy in the simple things.

Above all, Charles was a father. He was a stubborn, hardworking dad who was always there for his sons. Whether they needed guidance, support, or someone to stand beside them, he showed up. He led by example, teaching the value of hard work, resilience, and loyalty through the life he lived every day.

He is survived by his sons, Charles Minskey, Michael Minskey, and Jeffery Minskey; his brother, Donald Nelson; his sisters, Kim Nelson and Paula Nelson; and extended family members Heidi Nelson Wultzer, Pam Bromley Jenkins, and Russell Leichtenberger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Nelson and Pauline Barnhouse; his brother, Jeffery Nelson; and his fiancée, Stacey Good.
