The Legacy page is something we need to keep posting up on, good reminding Jeanne.

Blake, you remember Roger Storman from Hawaii, we were reminiscing about your craziness the other day when an article about Papua, New Guinea came up with them raising a sunken bomber. If there was one thing you said you liked about being in a state with no seasons, it was the angel duty you did in MIA recovery. You did some unique and amazing things while you were here.

See you again, but not yet, not quite yet!!! God bless...

Blake. We went to the Memorial Day service in Fort Mohave. I like the one back home in MN. much better. Maybe it's because our friends and some of our family are there and we all get together after the service at the Legion, have a toast or 5 of Jagermesters followed by a beer. We miss you so very much every day. Hard to believe you were so cruelly taken from us a little over 12 years. Your buddy Dick Sieber put the wreath on the Memorial in honor and remembrance of you. Rest in Peace Warrior. You will always be remembered. Take care of the girl angels up there. I write so much about you on Facebook, I almost forgot your Legacy. I will love you forever with what's left of my heart. I will see you again, but as your friend Gary Mc Lean says: Soon, but not quite yet.

I had an opportunity to memorialize Blake at a small community ceremony in Caughdenoy NY. I did not know him other than during boot camp but he obviously made an impression. His story was shared and a moment of silence observed in his memory. I am posting this because I want his family to know he, and many others, are not forgotten! God Bless You and everyone who has mourned his passing.

Blake-yesterday we honored your memory by attending a service by the Colorado River. I thought how fitting a place being your love of fishing. We watched your Memorial Service from Iraq and of all things, we heard from Chaplain Pipkin who conducted your Memorial Service over there and Darin Nelson who was with the Nebraska National Guard to provide security for your team. We miss you every day and will until we can see your smile and get a hug. I live you.
Rest in Peace Warrior. Semper Fi. Mom

Blake: Seven years now since you were so cruelly taken away from us, and I am missing you with every fiber of my being. With every beat of my heart, I wish you were here.
Today Kelsey and I have a Blake day planned - putting up your little Christmas tree, BLTs, the Army-Navy Surplus store, and dropping some gifts off at a local Toys For Tots donation center.
Through it all, we will remember goofy things you did and fun times we had - the way you would shake Kelsey by her ankles asking for her lunch money, how you were there at the vet's when we had to take our gorgeous Shepherd, Niki, to get euthanized and how you fed her about five pounds of beef jerky on the way to the vet. We'll laugh about "the great shoe incident" and I will remember how great it was to have my baby brother move in with me after high school graduation. I loved sharing my Pasadena apartment with you, I really did, even though I simply cannot believe how messy you kept your bathroom...OUR guest bathroom! All these years later, I'm not quite sure if I was taking care of you or if you were taking care of me. I love you so, Blake. Though you were the younger, you always had my back and had a quiet way of making sure all was okay in my world.
Okay, yes, tears today as well. When I recieved that call Dec. 14th, 2005 at 3:33pm, I still didn't understand that you were gone - I thought you were hurt and remember wondering if you would be home by Christmas. To have your bright flame extinguished was simply inconceivable to me. Between the two of us, on some level I still expect your smiling face to walk in the door.
I know, however, that you are right now and forever within me, that you live on in Kelsey (I've seen the bathroom in her apartment), and that your legacy lives on in the lives and hearts of hundreds, if not thousands of people in this world.
I love you for who you were and I will cherish you forever.
TTFN,
Suzi

To the family of Staff Sgt. Kenneth B. Pospisil:

As you may know, the Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation has honored your loved one at its Memorial Day Sunday worship service (each year in May) … since the time of your fallen hero's ultimate sacrifice. We will continue to pay tribute to our nation's veterans … lest we ever forget!

Now we would like to honor you … as the next-of-kin … who have also paid a great price on the altar of liberty. On Sunday 29 September at 11:00 a.m. we will host a Gold Star Family Sunday.

I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship … as we pay tribute to your sacrifice. Our pastor, U.S. Army Chaplain (Colonel-Retired) Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “By Dying, We Live.” The special music will be the husband/wife vocal/piano — Wickman Duo. Following the worship experience, your family is invited to attend a social time in our Fellowship Hall … with some light refreshments.

As this historic chapel has limited seating, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (651/286-7296) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans' name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org

If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.

Blake was a true blue partner in crime. If he was here right now, he'd be egging me to sneak on over to the German side of base and make new friends at the beer garden. NO Pops, it's the last day of Ramadan and I've got to be up at 4am to work with the Afghan Army.

heh, then again, it IS your birthday...

Happy birthday Blake! Man, time flies, you would have been 43? If there's anything I can remember from any birthday celebration Blake would have been involved with, I didn't drink enough Jager and Fosters oilcans for his scrutiny! 10th Puka, and money on the bar was the order of the day.

As always Blake, we miss you and it seems like you come up in conversation just about as often as ever between Jenn and I. We will see you soon, but not yet, not just yet...

Blake-today would be your 43rd birthday. Dad and I went to the cemetery and put a Vikings balloon and a Happy Birthday one. We sent up 4 gold ones from Suzi,Kelsey,Dad and me. We then went to the Legion, had a Jagie and a beer and then off to our favorite place for BLT's in memory of you. We talked about all the antics from the time you were a toddler and tried to take the doors off the lower cabinets in the kitchen-you never would show us where you got the screw drive also the time you tried to help me wash the kitchen floor by sprinkling a can of Comet all over, which heck to get up off a pebbled floor. You were taken from us way too soon, but thank you for all the wonderful memories you gave us. It helps to make us smile. We love you

Howdy Blake, it's been a while since we posted up in remembrance. Another Memorial Day is coming down, and you are still missed at all times. I wish you could be sitting out here with us enjoying the spectacular weather with cocktail in hand to help continually exaggerate the good stories, and the bad ones!

As always my friend, we'll see you again soon, but not yet, not just yet...

To the family of Staff Sgt. Kenneth B. Pospisil:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Christian Memorial Day Remembrance worship service at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, 26 May 2013. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the bordering states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with some 300 white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.

The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses representing all of the wars of our nation's history and give honor to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Wreaths will be placed at the foot of each 8-foot cross bearing the number of U.S. Service Members killed in each of America's conflicts.

I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “Freedom:Free, but Costly.” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and there place poppies at each of the crosses. A Memorial Rifle Squad of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery will fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played. Following your visit to the Memorial Garden, your family is invited to attend an informal reception (weather permitting) outside of the Chapel. The Memorial Garden will remain until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 27 May (Memorial Day).

As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (651/286-7296) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans' name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org Special rates for nearby hotels will be available. For more information call (651/286-7296) or email the office ([email protected]) and leave your name and contact information.

Also, beginning at dusk (8:30 p.m.) on Saturday 25 May through dawn (6:30 a.m.) on Sunday, 26 May, a “Prayer Vigil for Peace” will be held in the sanctuary of the Chapel. You are invited to stop by, light a candle and place it at the foot of your loved one's cross in the Memorial Garden … and then enter the Chapel for prayer.

If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.

Respectfully,

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Pospisil Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.

You left us seven years ago and to me it feels like yesterday. I don't understand how so many years can pass and the pain still remains. When I look at your pictures, watch the DVD's we have of your memorial service and funeral service,it makes me so proud of how many people loved your. Your sister did such a wonderful presentation at your funeral-it blows me away. Know we love and miss you with all our hearts.

He was a Star.

Look up at the night sky and you see stars.
Millions of stars.
But these stars, these wondrous, beautiful stars, are millions of light years away.
That means that the light from these stars took millions of years to travel across the universe, through entire galaxies, just to be picked up by our eyes.
Some of the stars that we see, aren't actually even there anymore. They burned out eons ago but yet here we are, still enjoying their glow.
And that is exactly him.
A star.
Bringing light to the darkest of places.
And yes, he is gone, but I'm still staring at the sky marveled by his existence.
And just like a star, his light will continue to shine, long after he is gone, reflected in the eyes of those who loved him, those who learned from him, and those who are alive today because of him.

Dozens of branches on dozens of family trees in danger of being cut down,
Threatened by war and terror.
But the branches remain.
Because of him.
And eventually these branches with sprout more branches and leaves will grow and flowers will blossom,
A little girl will be born with the most wonderful sparkle in her eyes
And people will say it's the light of innocence,
It's the sparkle of youth,
But I will know that it is him,
Still shining
In the people he saved.

I miss you, Blake.

Friday six years ago we had your funeral and brought you to rest with Grandma and Grandpa Strouse. These three days-not to even mention Christmas and your birthday are the hardest times for Dad and me. You have the best sister and niece on earth and they are right about the way we can honor your memory. We have to give, like you always did-be kind like you were-smile often and march to our own drummer whether others agree or not-which you certainly did to our consternation at times!! I wonder who you would be now and what you would be doing. I hope happily married to someone who put you first and a couple of kids would be nice. December 14, 2011

6 years. As of today, it has been six years. I cannot believe it. It feels like it's been twenty years since you've been gone, but at the same time it feels like we lost you just twenty minutes ago.
I miss you so much. I'd do anything for just one more day with you, or at least just to hear your laugh. That's the thing I miss the most, I think.
But you already know I miss you, so I'm not even going to go there.
Now I can't promise you that there will be no tears, but I can promise you that today will not be a dark day. Not for me. I promise that I will smile until my cheeks hurt and will not let this take me to a bad place.
Because that's not who you were. I have so many memories of you Blake, and there isn't a single one in which you're not smiling.
If I could, I would, but there is nothing I can do to bring you back.
So today is not going to be a day of mourning, or a day spent wishing I could change the past. Today is going to be a reminder.
And this letter is not of sadness or loss. This letter is a thank you, and a promise.
You have taught me so many things, Blake. Honor, courage, integrity, passion, humility, loyalty, sacrifice. You taught me that life is so short and that bad things can happen to even the best people, but you also taught me what a life well-lived looks like. It is your passion that gives me drive. It is your courage that gives me strength. It is your sacrifice that keeps me going when everything seems to be working against me, and I will never be able to thank you enough for the lessons you taught me without saying a word. Thank you.
I promise you I will never forget you, or your lessons. I promise I will carry your memory with me wherever I may go. I promise to eat BLTs and shop at Army Navy Surplus Stores. I promise my children will know of you, and I promise I will hang them upside down by their ankles and shake them for their lunch money. I promise you that I will always follow my passion and do what I believe is right. I promise I will do everything I can to make you proud, and I promise that I will live my life in your honor.

today I mourn for you my friend; a hero, a soldier,my cousin and best friend. I finally understand it all now, ... many years too late could I have stopped it somehow? Your memory serves as an example to me, how life is so fragile no matter how strong one may be. It reminds me daily to love my sons, to give them my all just like u would have my cuz; as we think of u please know it's always in the back of our minds "if our love could have saved you, you wouldn't have died." 6 years, but still seems like yesterday,we miss you...

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. You will be remembered in our prayer of thanks for the time we had with you. None of the holidays feel the same anymore since you have been gone. It is approaching Christmas which is not a good time for Dad and me. I remember when you called and saying "I wish you could come home for Christmas" and you said "next year". You did come home, but not in the way we expected. It's a daily struggle for us-still so hard to accept. I guess our head tells us one thing, while our hearts tell us another. I know you are at peace and looking over us and your friend who are still on earth. I love you Blake, every day and am looking forward to more signs from you. You did something really special when you visited with Kelsey a few weeks ago. I think you both needed each other and I believe you made quite an inpact on her life. I love you so.

Hey cousin! Just wanted to say Hey and that I missed you. Everyone out in NJ is remembering 9/11, and all the heroes in the NYPD, NYFD and all of our military who made so many selfless sacrfices. I talk about you all the time, and brag that my cousin was in the Marines! Your in my thoughts all the time, cousin! ....I'm hoping to get your parents out to an Army / Navy game one year - we had a great time last time we all went together - or at least get to visit them out in Minnesota! we'll see... will catch up with you later cousin! You have been on my mind so much lately. I wonder if you are trying to tell me something-just wish I knew. We miss you and sent all the balloons up again for your birthday.I wonder what you would look like now-handsome as ever I believe! I still feel your hugs, tickles and remember your voice. I am so glad we can listen to your voice on your computer with the things you sent-whether you knew we would be listening or not. You are a hoot explaining what is going on-you still make us smile. Too bad they aren't appropriate for FHV-they would be worth more money that they are offering. I think of you every morning when I get up and the last thought at night before I fall asleep. I will always miss you and wish you were here grilling with Dad and me.

Another July 4th without you. We will visit your grave and light a couple of sparklers in your memory. I would love to send up a rocket-but for some reason that loud noise makes me cringe to this day. Know we are thinking of you every day and miss you so. You are very missed this Memorial Day and it saddens us that we honor you as one of our fallen. We've been thinking about you a lot. We shared our Hawaii war stories about you with one of our neighbors over a couple of beers today, and yes, we did our mandatory Jager shots about five minutes ago!

You are being remembered again this Memorial Day with the release of balloons in memory of you, Bill Callahan and Kevin Luna. Blake, next week I will be able to spend some time with you at your grave-it's been a long time since I have just been able to chat with you there. It always made me feel good just because it is the only place you are physically. Please keep the little signs going that I feel are from you. I will always remember your beautiful eyes, smile, laughter and your story telling. I guess there isn't anything I would not miss-well maybe a couple of minor things!! I love you and can still feel your hugs and hear your voice which will always remain clear in my head and never fade away.

To the family of Staff Sgt Kenneth B Pospisil:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Memorial Day Sunday worship service at 11:00 a.m. on 29 May 2011. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the neighboring states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with some 200 white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one. The Memorial Garden’s perimeter will be manned by members of the Patriot Guard and a honor guard from AMVETS Post #1 of Mendota will be posted at the entrance.

The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses representing all of the wars in United States history and give honor to all who have served their country and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Wreaths will be placed at the foot of each cross bearing the number of U.S. Service Members killed in each of our nation’s wars.

I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, U.S. Army Chaplain Col. Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “A Believer’s Look at War.” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and place poppies at each of the crosses. A Memorial Rifle Squad of Fort Snelling National Cemetery will fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played. Following your visit to the memorial garden, your family is invited to attend an informal reception (weather permitting) outside of the Chapel.

As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (651/456-4410) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans’ name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org Special rates for nearby hotels will be available. For more information call (651/456-4410) or email ([email protected]) the office and leave your name and contact information.

Also, beginning at dusk (8:30 p.m.) on Sat 28 May through dawn (6:30 a.m.) on Sun 29 May, a “Prayer Vigil for Peace” will be held in the sanctuary of the Chapel. You are invited to stop by, light a candle and place it at the foot of your loved one’s cross in the Memorial Garden … and then enter the Chapel for prayer.

If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.

Respectfully,
Leila Campbell

Another Easter passed without you; but you were in my thoughts all day remembering years ago watching you fill a basket with eggs, candy etc. Now this week I am looking forward to watching another royal wedding-but you won't be here watching with me. Diana got married at 0400 and I remember you coming downstairs and watching the coverage with me-we just cuddled on the couch and ate junk food before breakfast. This year I will be sitting by myself at 0100 Friday morning watching another one and wishing you were here with me again. I love you with all my heart and soul and miss you every day.

I found this EOD
prayer written by Rev. Carl Bergstrom-Past National Chaplain, DAV

Lord of power and might whose mercy is everlasting, guard and guide those who place their lives in the balance to ensure the safety of those nearby.

Look with favor upon those with the prowness and skill to disarm explosive devices, render them safe, and remove from others the threat of harm.

Bless those who have been set apart by this hazardous duty, and give support to their families and loved ones who wait through each tense call.

Receive into eternal rest those who have given their lives and bring healing to those who mourn. Grant that in the EOD Family there may be unity of spirit for the well being of all. To your glory with grateful hearts, we thank you loving God. Amen

What a beautiful prayer Blake-know we are grateful for you and your EOD brothers who keep us all safe. You will always be in our minds and hearts and we promise never to ever forget you and what you have given-your life.

He is such a comfort with his kind words and we can see why we have loved him as our minister-he brings us closer to you. Know you are close to us and you will never be forgotten. I have to keep remembering we were so fortunate to have God lend you to us for 35 years-there are so many families who don't have their sons that long. This afternoon Dad and I played dominos and listened to some of your favorite music like Abba, OMD, Enya and several others. We miss you so much. Suzi gave Dad the best birthday present yesterday. It was a picture of you made especially for him and it's beautiful and was taken on the day you were taken from us. I know I have to say goodbye to you sometime, but I'm not ready yet-even after almost 5 years. When I look at your photos taken over in Iraq, your smile is out of this world and when we hear your voice on some DVD's we have, it just feels so wrong that you aren't here. Just know you are in our hearts and thoughts every day and will be forever. We are proud of you Marine and thank God we were blessed with you even though the time was too short.

Blake, You impacted me back in elementary school and I never forgot who you were but I always wondered what you decided to do in life - I knew it would be special. Little did I know how powerful it was until I heard the news of a MN Marine that gave his life protecting others. You have impacted me and my family - and I thank you for your gift of sending your brothers in arms home to their families.
