Hello,
We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We are sending Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of David S. Parr US Marine Lance Corporal.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and many others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Hey David,
Happy belated birthday, I still think of you every time I file my nails. Such an odd and lasting life lesson to learn from you and your clubbin' ways.
We lost cousin Gary this week. He lost his light and fell into the dark. You always had the brightest smile, maybe you could use it to take care of heaven's newest soldier.
Love you still

God bless you devil. I remember the times we spent just looking out off the ship in the blackest of night just having a cigarette and talking about what we were doing here or what we want to do in the future. I remember you being my spades partner on ship. Man, we used to clean the floor with some of those guys. Most of all, I remember that you epitomized what a true marine is. You work hard, you play hard, and you will forever be my brother. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you, gerena, or spann. God bless. This day is for you.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

David was my best friend and I loved him like a brother. I have been unable to bring myself to visit this site. The lost of my friend is something I carry with me everyday. There is not a day that goes by that I don't see something that reminds me of a story. David and me graduated high school together and both joined the Marine Corps. Out of the four years I spent in the Marine Corps, I never met a marine who was as proud or loved the Marine Corps more than David did.
To David: Sorry I didn't keep up my end of the deal and I will not Forget.

To the Family of LCPL Parr:
I met Parr only a couple times, the first time being in March of 2005 while visiting my boyfriend who is also a Marine. We all hung out in Myrtle Beach and he was a blast. Me and my girlfriends talked about how hilarious he was all the time. He was so much fun, that we actually ended up taking photos of him being funny as well as group photos of all the Marines that were hanging out together there that weekend. After my boyfriend told me about Parr I thought I would love to one day send you some of these photos if you would like them. So please feel free to contact me if you are interested.

Dear Parr Family,
My Grandson Justin was with David, (in one of the other of five vehicles) when the explosion happened. Being from Amherst, Ohio they were "bonded". Justin refered to him as "one of his boy's". When I heard the news for the first time on CNN at 3:00am that the third Platoon had been hit and three Marines were lost out of only thirty in the Platoon, my stomach flipped upside down. Our family was devastated, and the waiting for the news was horrible.
I must admit the guilt I feel, and felt, for hoping it was someone else's son and not ours.
Words cannot express the sorrow that I and Justin's family feel for you and your family. Even though these military members that are lost are referred to as numbers, The impact that they each have on such a large network of people is amazing.
If I or any of Justin's family can be of any help or assistance please feel free to contact us.
May God Bless you!

Dear Parr Family,
You do not know me, I met David while I was visiting a friend in North Carolina while they were still in S.O.I. He was one of the most intriguing young men I had ever met. He was a gentleman and a sweetheart during my whole trip. He was constantly making me laugh and trying to make sure I had the best time possible. He was one of those people everyone wishes they could be because he was simply amazing. He wanted to make sure everyone was happy, and he always had a smile on his face. I only met him that one time and we talked a few times on the phone and I could never get him out of my mind. He left such an impact on me as he did this world. I am so sorry for your loss.

Dear Parr Family,
David and I were great friends in HS in Benson. He was the funniest guy I had ever known. I won't ever forget the time he turned Mrs. Allen's clock back in our Co-Op class 20 mins so we could get out earlier. She was so mad the next day! All he did was laugh! I'm sad that I didn't keep in touch with him and had always hoped to meet up with him again. He was an awesome friend and will be missed more than he could ever know. We love and miss you David. Thank you for your sacrifice and thank you to your family. I could only hope to be half the person you are David. We will NEVER FORGET! Love,

I loved David very much. He was a Great friend. I still find my self in tears when i think of what has happen. My hopes are that David is watching over us, I know his laughing because his not beliving the reaction we all are having. The last time I saw David was Holloween. His was going out that night with Johnathan. Man them two together. He was telling me that he could find Josh another wife, since I was joking about Josh leaving with them to look for girls. I yelled at David and he gave me that smile and looked at me said he could find him another wife but he didn't say he would find one as good as me. They left shortly after to inbark on what ever aventure they came upon. I miss him so much. He was one of my Best Friends. David I Love You and please watch over your family and ours!

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

Although I have never met you or saw your face I knew we were connected. We have a connection that some people might not have. One that is full of passion, courage, humanity and strife. We are the military...the soldiers...the wives the children...we are a family. It's rough to lose a family member! God Bless you in all you did and all you achieved. You will be sadly missed.

Although we know no words to remove your sorrow, please let me express my eternal thanks and appreciation to David and all the brave men and women who protect our freedoms every day. For some, that protection requires the supreme sacrifice. Please find comfort in the Lord and in the support of your friends and neighbors. Thank you, David.

To David's Family & Friends:
Our deepest sympathies to you all. Our son is also with the 1/2 Charlie Co., 1st Plt. He called today and I felt so sad because you will never hear your son's voice again. We hope our prayers reach your hearts and give you peace. We pray: Father, I ask you to bless those that I care deeply for, who are reading this right now. Show them a new revelation of Your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask you to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence through Your grace. Where there is need, I ask You to fulfill their needs. Bless their homes, families, their comings and goings. In Jesus' precious name. Amen.
We pray you are comforted as you place your faith in God.
With sincere gratitude to your son,
Alan Wardlow

My flag flies at half staff today in Denver in honor of David, Orville Gerena and Jacob Spann. These brave men were connected in their Marine brotherhood in life and in death.
Although you don't know my family, we had the opportunity to watch Jacob Spann grow from a young boy to a man in Westerville, OH.
Today, we grieve for your David as we grieve for Jacob.
Respectfully,
Alan Wardlow and Jill Anderson

Larry and Misty, I pray that God touches your family during this time, and guides you, and helps to ease your hearts. I have lots of memories of David and those big brown eyes when he was younger. I have not been around much these last couple years, but I want you to know I still love you both. Be strong and hold your head high resting in the knowledge that he left you with honor and dignity in service of our great nation!!
